The Yankees would be foolish to deal Cano, Hughes and Montero in a package for Felix. While he is and will continue to be great, that's a hefty package.
Yeah, it's not a question of worth. Along with Lincecum, I'd say he's the most valuable starter in the league right now, since they're both so young and both so ridiculously dominant. It would just take way too much to get him from the Yankees perspective. You have holes in your rotation? Well you're going to have even worse holes in your infield/lineup/and franchise in general, if you trade for Felix.

They need to just go into next season with what they have. If it isn't working, there's always the trade deadline. This panicking is just going to lead to them making a dumb trade that comes back and bites them. Try and remember you have two pitchers making a billion dollars, plus Phil Hughes and probably Andy Pettite, who also makes ace pitcher money on one year deals. If that isn't serviceable enough, then you need to fire Cashman now. It would be good enough for most teams in the MLB to win.

They haven't had any trouble being competitive against them in the past 10 years, without an elite rotation.

The problem now isn't not having an elite rotation, it's barely having a rotation. If Pettitte doesn't come back our rotation is CC,Phil, AJ, Ivan Nova, and Sergio Mitre. Long story short, we're going to get lit up unless AJ bounces back, which who knows if we can rely on him.

This problem is only exacerbated because the Red Sox got better this offseason. I'm not saying that we won't make the playoffs, because we almost definitely will, but if we can improve our rotation in any way, that's an opportunity we need to capitalize on.

Sure it does. It guarantees that the Mariners have no reason whatsoever to even think about dealing Felix for another 2-3 years (Hernandez is locked up through 2014). Bad teams only trade away stars if they're afraid of losing them to free agency within a year or two, or if they're budget-conscious and are looking to cut payroll. Seattle doesn't qualify.

The Yankees don't have enough top tier prospects to get a deal done anyway and simply offering their most affordable players wouldn't do it either.

If Jack Z. were to even consider trading Hernandez at this point then he should be fired immediately.

Please enlighten me on these reasons, then.

What I've heard is that Felix just does not want to play in New York for the Yankees. I am not sure on why.

                        Yep, exactly.

I think I'd cease to become a M's fan if they traded King Felix now. Besides, why would we want Cano when we have Dustin Ackley blazing through the minors?

These Seattle writers are just drumming up rumors because the M's aren't even talking to the agents of the major free agents this winter. They have to get viewership somehow.

Maybe the Mariners had that put in to protect them from larger teams talking to his agent and putting pressure on the team and management. Other teams outside those 9 are less likely to be as aggressive.

I was surprised by Larry Stone starting something like this, but I wasn't surprised by Geoff "National Enquirer" Baker fueling the fire. This whole Felix-trade thing is a 100% non-story.

Because the 10 "richest" teams are going to be able to buy Felix out of his no-trade clause.

That is probably the main reason. $$$

If the M's want to make a big splash for the better of the team's future, it all starts with trading away Ichiro.

He is still productive but his age is still getting up there.
