Barry Stanton should have his voting privileges revoked for voting for them, but not Bagwell or Raines.

The truly sad thing is not only did he vote for BJ Surhoff, he didn't vote for the two guys who got in.

I'd still like to know the name of the person who voted for Bret Boone

Seriously, what qualifies a person to have a vote for something this prestigious?
We have people who take it as a joke voting for above average-average players instead of the elite guys who deserve it.
And yeah, the person who voted for Boone, I wonder who else they voted for.

I think those people hand their toddlers the ballot and the kid colors it in with crayons.

It seems like alot of these voters have either some kind of hidden agenda against certain players or they are just voting for their favorite players and forgetting the task at hand. Its starting to become a joke.

I'm a big Blyleven fan being that I have been a lifetime Twins fan, but it just doesn't seem right. I thought I would be so happy for him when he finally got elected, but now it seems more of a pity thing. I understand its part of the process, but come on!

                  Re: 2011 HOF Class announcement

I heard a comparison to Alomar that I think is quite apt. We do have a lot of younger guys on this site these days who may have only seen him late in his career so I will make the comparison here.

Jerry Howarth, the PBP voice of the Blue Jays made the comparison between Alomar and Derek Jeter. True, they didn't play the same position but they both brought the same kind of qualities and intangibles to the game. Alomar was a guy who was good to great at just about everything on the baseball diamond the same way Jeter was in his prime. Both guys were/are adept at the sneakier side of the game by stealing signs and so on so forth. The major difference is that Alomar was truly the best fielding 2B of his generation and probably all time while Jeter is horribly overrated at the SS position.

I think the comparison is pretty good and thus this'll give some of the younger guys here an idea of what he was like. Alomar was the leader in the clubhouse during his tenure in Toronto and while he wasn't the public face of the team (that goes to Joe Carter) he was the guy that most of the other players looked up to just like Jeter has that position with the Yankees.

I can totally get behind that.

And with no real contenders going to be on the ballot for the first time next year I totally see Larkin getting in.

Roberto Alomar and Carlos Baerga were THE Second Basemen in the AL in the early 90's and it was always fun to watch them play.

Sadly the only things a lot of people remember about Alomar is the spitting incident in 1996 and the journeyman days later in his career when he hopped from team to team.

I felt the same way with Jim Rice.

Just some agenda having tools. And some admitted it was to "punish" Jim because he didn't lick the ground the media walked on.
