If only Charlotte got an MLB team..

Just imagine how awesome that'd be. I suppose I'm saying this just because I'm from there, but it could easily support a team. All it would need is a stadium!

It would be great. They would become my favorite team baseball team immediately. Just keep the Charlotte Knights Logo and colors. I just would worry about fan support.

Well, we can support a Minor League team, as well as teams from other sports, so why not?

Thats funny. When I was posting this, I was thinking of other locations. New Orleans was on that list!

I don't think it would be a good thing. That area is inundated with Braves fans. I think it would be an initial rush, but after a few years I don't think they'd be drawing. Just my opinion...we have enough MLB teams.

An relocation team at the least. Braves fans can be Braves fans. Weren't there Orioles fans in D.C? They still got a team.

We don't need baseball with lack of support for the NFL and NBA. Especially if we struggle early on, no one would come out.

Charlotte would probably be the a likely destination for the Rays if they had to leave Tampa. An AL team not conflict much with the Braves with a good young core of talent probably could draw well there. Plus taking the Rays out of the St.Petersburg area which has a heavy Yankee fan base and putting them somewhere where people will actually want to see them may allow them to open the checkbook a little more often.

Portland, Oregon needs a Major League ball team.
There's a long MLBless stretch between Seattle and San Fran.
I think they have the Padres AAA team in Portland though, and that's probably all they will ever get.
Lot of Mariners fans in Portland too, so I wouldn't count on it ever happening.

I work in Charlotte every once in a while and I am a huge basketball fan, i try to catch a game anytime i am there and they are in town.
With that being said Charlotte doesnt support the Bobcats at all.
I cant believe how easy it is to get really good tickets to a Bobcats game either really cheap or just free.
I have been to about 10 games over the past 4 years and I cant believe how empty the place is when I go. So my point is no Charlotte doesnt support their current teams very well.

Another thing that would really hold back a current team moving to Charlotte is the lack of a stadium. I team that moves would do it over one off season and would want to move to a city with a decent stadium.

People will come out if they are winning, North Carolina is the biggest bandwagon state out there, and Charlotte is the king of bandwagon. I mean the Hornets was probably a one time thing in the city, and even they couldnt keep a fanbase (albeit because of the dislike towards Shinn). We just support winners here, so if they go on a long stretch of losing, it'll be no different than what the Rays have now.

I think the Rays would gladly take a stadium full of bandwagon fans when they are winning compared to making the playoffs twice in 3 years and still not being able to sellout a non-Yankees or Red Sox game.

Norfolk needs a MLB team. Tidewater, Eastern NC, and Richmond -- more than enough baseball fans there to support a team.

Lots of players in the MLB today from the area too...

Upton brothers, David Wright, Mike Cuddyer, Daniel Hudson, Mark Reynolds, Sean Marshall, Cla Meredith, Scott Sizemore, and Verlander is from Virginia and played at ODU.
