I hope Pelfrey was watching because Ralph Kiner threw better than he did his last two starts.

Manny Ramirez to retire per Bob Costas on MLB Network... wha?

Edit : Apparently Manny had another questionable Drug Test... this is all according to Costas, who is doing the BOS/NYY Game right now.

If this is true, the Rays offense is even more screwed than they were before.

I just saw a similar article on espn.com. Tampa's offense takes another hit.

If this turns out to be true, TB will break all records possible and go 0-162, allowing at least 3 perfect games and 9 no-hitters in the process

Eh, I don't think so. Wasn't Manny struggling?

Hopefully Manny's retirement will be a huge distraction for Tampa Bay tonight, resulting in another White Sox win.

Red Sox with a few insurances runs going into the 8th. I'm a little nervous, didn't the Yankees lead the league in comebacks last year?

I see Papelbon blowing the game, so hopefully the Sox can add a few more insurance runs to make that more difficult.

                        Finally!

And the bullpen comes in and goes 4 straight scoreless, with the first look at the Jenks-Bard-Papelbon 7th/8th/9th.

Well Lordy be...the Red Sox actually won. Here's hoping it's the start of a new streak and not just a break in the old one...lol. Yikes.

Even if the Sox were to sweep the Yanks they're still deep in a hole as they'd be 3-6. They'd need to be pretty hot to get out of that hole which isn't out of the question but then they can't afford more prolonged slumps.

Anyways, can't wait for tonight. It's gonna be really weird seeing Vernon Wells in another uniform.

So Ryan Theriot's defense is just absolutely awful.

I'm pretty sure in every game I've watched so far (all but 3 due to work) he has failed to make at least 1 routine play in all of them.

If he was hitting that might be acceptable, but this is making he long for the days of Brendan Ryan who couldn't hit but was a great fielder.

I'm not a big Jake Westbrook fan either.

I just don't like the makeup of this Cardinals team at all, obviously our stretch with Edmonds/Rolen/Pujols all in their primes was a blast to watch and I don't expect that team every season, but I at least liked the past few years where we were built more for strong defense and pitchers who create grounders mostly.

This year we added some bad fielders who offer slightly better bats, I just don't get it, not the Cardinals baseball I'm used to.

Berkman + Theriot could easily be Ludwick and Orlando Hudson with Ryan or Tyler Greene at SS which I would like a ton more, I still hate that we traded Luddy.

Berkman is hitting solidly but I don't like his defense out in RF, Ludwick on the other hand isn't hitting but I liked his glove.

Westbrook is just I don't even know, but I figured he might do a bit better getting out of Cleveland where he got some run support, but Cleveland is hitting better than we are this year, tough luck Jake.
