I can't name 1 player that does it. It is either not done that much or not shown on TV. It really is a non issue for me.

Re: Thoughts on the urge of a tabacoo ban
It should be up to the parents to teach the kid that it's bad if they see it. Kids don't start chewing because they see ballplayers doing it. They start chewing because one of their friends has some and they try it. I think people are overestimating the effect of a kid seeing a ballplayer chewing on TV.Comment

I mean I see what you're saying, but its kind of harsh. The MLB has to look out for their fanbase, and that includes the 4 year old watching games with his grandparents that will become a lifelong fan and teach his kids the game. And you say punish a player like they are telling them they can no longer do something fundamental to the game. They're telling them to quit an already bad habit.Comment

Re: Thoughts on the urge of a tabacoo ban
Sure i did. Pitching deliveries or batting stances, the way a guy shot a basketball or did a free throw routine. However if a player that i was a fan of say Doc Gooden as I was a big fan of his, did cocaine and only God knows what other drugs does not mean I'm going to go do them because 1 of my favorite pitchers did.
My Grampa was my biggest hero as I was by his side constantly on the farm growing up and he smoke like a chimney. never once did i ever want to smoke, sure as a liitle kid I bought those little candy cigs but as I got older and realize how bad they were made me never want to try them. My Grampa ended up living to be 78 years old so it was not like i lost a loved one early in my life and swore not to do it.Comment

Re: Thoughts on the urge of a tabacoo ban
I don't know if it's too bad of a thing; in fact there can be positives. When I was a kid, I mentioned to my Dad something about dip and he told me never to start. It was a moment my Dad used to educate me about tobacco use. Parents have to do the parenting, not Major League Baseball.Rangers - Cowboys - Aggies - Stars - Mavericks
