I'd sell the ball to the player. I used to think that I'd be completely altruistic and just give the ball back. Now, I'd get whatever money I could out of it and put it towards my kid's college fund.Comment

If the player really wants it back, they can pay the millions that it may go for. If it was a milestone that isn't worth much (first home run, or 100th, or 200th) then I would give it back to the player in exchange for a signed jersey or bat, or maybe free tickets. But if its 74th in a year or 763, then I'm selling it for the millions it'll go for.
