    Re: More playoff teams

I'm against adding teams because it'll only extend the time of the post-season and also, it'll make some teams just slack off towards the playoffs instead of trying to get more ground once they get a comfortable lead in the race.
I say the format now is perfectly fine.

I don't think there needs to be more team but i do think the divisions could use a bit of realignment. the NL Central should nto have 6 teams and the AL West should not have only 4.

            Re: More playoff teams

Personally, I think there needs to be more incentive for winning your division... i.e... the wild-card teams get off easy. I was reading a while back that the MLBPA was toying with the idea of the first and second place wild-card finishers playing a one-game playoff to decide who goes on to play a divisional winner-- kind of like how the Mets and Reds did several years back when they finished tied. This way there's no 'coasting' to the wild-card, AND, that WC winning team has used their ace pitcher already going into their divisional series.

I could go for that, I'd just hate to see MLB end up like the NBA or NHL.
I like the 'new' playoff format, but I still consider myself to be a purist.

                        Re: More playoff teams

we don't need any more teams in the POs. There are in each league only 4-6 good teams anyway, so only 1-2 sit at home after the regular season. That's how it goes.

I was all about hte wild card, and i still think it is the best thing, if not the only good thing, that has happened in a while. The old West/East thing was way old by August, omst of the time. Just look at the NL card and NL central.
