    Yes, but I think people are looking at it like this: would you take him over every other player if you had the pick? Yes, there is no denying he's playing above everyone else right now...that doesn't mean he's the best player in the game though. I think the debate was is he the kind of guy you pick for the future...I don't see any reason he slows down, but I can also understand why a guy who's produced for 10+ years on a historically consistent basis would be the safer pick.

        Right now is so relative, though. Is it one week? One year? 180 games? I could say anyone is the best player right now if I choose my words carefully and no one could argue with me.

        The real point is that 30 GMs in the league right now would rather have Albert Pujols on their team than Jose Bautista. Anyone that disagrees with that isn't understanding the big picture. Does that mean they wouldn't want Bautista on their team? Of course not. But, right now is right now when you want it to be right now. If we're talking about this season, yea, Bautista is the best player in the Milky Way. If we're talking about best player in the game, period, no way anyone can really say Bautista is better than Albert Pujols.

        One slump and already we're forgetting what Pujols can do with the bat.


        By the way, I was wrong about Bautista's contract. The Jays are making out like bandits with that deal.

                No lying there. His home run production has been phenomenal. I think Sammy Sosa once held a stat very close to that over a three-year span but I don't think everyone would have said he was the best player in baseball.

                Nothing against Bautista. He's definitely proven himself to be better than quality. I really don't take issue with anyone that says he's the best player in the game. Best player in anything is mostly opinion anyway so why even try to argue it?

                But, if you do want to then I tend to side with whatever the GMs in the league would do if given a chance. There are GMs in the league that are considering giving Pujols 30MM because of what he can do. Even with Bautista's production, I don't think they'd do the same.

                Is that fair? Probably not. I think Pujols gets the benefit because he has history whereas Bautista has two seasons. But many a man has had an incredible one to three season stretch where they dominated the sport. As foolish as most GMs are, I think many will be just as hesitant to take Bautista over Pujols.

                And I realize I'm saying this being a firm believer that most GMs are idiots that don't deserve their jobs.

                                He's um yeah pretty impressive, but like mentioned earlier i'd still take Pujols over Bautista if running a team.

                                                    That literally made me LOL. Bau is a beast and I get to see him play at the Rogers centre every week. People underrate his bat speed as well.
