Maybe they will win the pennant like the Rangers?

The best part is that they still owe Marquiss Grissom $2.7 million.

Location isn't the problem...lousy ownership since the O'Malley's sold the team is.

McCourt is a clown, hopefully the judge will force him to sell.

While McCourt may not be a good owner, what MLB is doing is criminal. I hope McCourt wins against MLB. MLB is trying to force him to sell the team because they don't like him. MLB has blocked a TV deal that they have had in place for months, but cannot get it approved by MLB. MLB is solely blocking the deal so McCourt has no money.

McCourt shouldn't have gotten the team in the first place. It's all been a shameful house of cards with he and his soon to be ex living way beyond their means and taking revenue generated by the ballclub to live their lavish lifestyle.

I heard this morning that the team owes Manny Ramirez 20 million bucks!

Too bad Selig is too much of a fossil and won't allow Mark Cuban to buy this team if he wants to.

I think Cuban might have helped himself out with the Maverick's playoff run, with him not doing or saying anything that could cause a knee-jerk reaction or think over the top/in your face. It could soften the view of him, allowing him to become an owner but its still probably a long road for him.

The MLB is trying to get him to sell the team because he's devaluing the Dodgers and hence devaluing the rest of the teams in the league. They blocked the TV deal, because McCourt was taking between 60-70 cents on the dollar for it, and was then going to use the money for personal expenses. That TV deal was not only bad for the Dodgers franchise it was bad for all of baseball. If that deal went through then all of the teams would have to take less on their TV deals as the market precedent would have been set. The MLB is merely protecting the value of all it's franchises. Something that it is legally allowed to do per the agreement you make with MLB when you buy a team.

You simply can not use a baseball team as a personal piggy bank.

The bottom line is the McCourt's never should have got the team. They simply didn't not have the financial backing they advertised they did when they were approved for ownership. Then they used the Dodgers as a means to pay for their lifestyle. Not to mention giving all their kids 6 figure jobs to basically do nothing.

MLB is not at fault here. The McCourts got the team under false pretenses, then mismanaged the finances of the team, and then in a last ditch effort to pay for their mistakes tried to make a TV deal that was heavily in Fox's favor and was going to hurt the game of baseball. BTW that TV deal has not been in place for months. There are grumblings out of Fox that it was anything but a done deal.

Dodger fans want them gone as well. While overall attendance is up league wide, the Dodgers attendance is down by 330,000 people thus far. Everyone wants them gone.

They should bring them back to Brooklyn and add an expansion franchise while McCourt weeps in his jail cell.

Bull**** judge let McCourt get 3 more weeks. Fans will continue to not go to games, ex Dodgers speaking up ala Lopes. Hopefully soon, the MLB will take over but McCourt continues to drag the great Dodger name through the mud.

Yeah the judge is doing Dodgers fans no favors.

Thank you bkrich83, for clearing things up.

The other risk out there is McCourt squandering all the money the Dodgers would get from the TV deal...

In fact, it almost seems like the only reason he bought the Dodgers in the first place was because he saw a fat TV deal in the future and thought... Pay day for me!

Either way... He's got to go ASAP.
                            All ties severed...

Which is why MLB is to blame for allowing him to buy the team in the first place. If he lied or misrepresented anything in the contract to buy the team, MLB would be going after him for it. MLB screwed up and didn't do their homework, now they have to deal with the fallout. MLB could buy the team from him, but they don't want to spend the money.
