Jon Jay hits a lead-off homer in the bottom of the 9th to make it 8-8
Pujols up with one out and one on

Well the Cards rallied without them. Unbelievable. All we can hope for is that they don't crap the bed too much this month and try to pull off another ridiculous August like they did in 2010. Win or lose tonight they still lose the series and I don't like that at all.

Sounds like Mauer will be taking his talents to 1B tomorrow.

Tough loss for the Bucs tonight, but I'll take another series win. Didn't see the whole game but it sounds like it wasn't all Charlie Morton's fault. Hopefully he can start pitching like he was in May. He's reeling lately. A sweep of the struggling Cubs would be awesome. Nothing like sending home Cubbie fans to an 8 hour drive after a sweep. Going into the All-Star break with such momentum would be big, also.

Reds win 9-8 in 13. Way to show a lack of faith, Slim!

Loved seeing Chapman hit 101 with that final pitch for the save. Reds needed this heading into a big 4-game series in Wisconsin against the Brew Crew.

Serious question-why doesn't FOX/TBS/ESPN broadcast more mid-week games? Do people really watch Peoples Court/Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get a TV Show?/1st and 10 at mid day?

As generic as a play that was by Chipper, it was a great play in my beautiful eyes.

The vast majority of the target audience works at this time. People at home right now are youngins like yourself or stay-at-home moms. Generally speaking, the price a network has to pay for weekday afternoon games does not match with the ratings they draw.

Alex Gonzalez never has an at bat that isn't 5+ pitches.

                          Freeman 3 run HR!

Another hit by Uggla. Second half of this season is starting off great for Uggla.

And 5 runs scored and still no outs this inning.

                          Spoiler

I really hope Uggla is not undergoing the law of averages. He's had himself a good week from the plate

I can understand that for FOX/TBS, but I'm not sure how it would work for say, ESPN 2 who is currently airing Mike and Mike high-lights. I'm not saying the jump would be huge, but I'd be willing to bet a team with a fanbase as large as the Braves do (Georgia to Louisiana is a lot of people) would only cause in increase in ratings.

But then again, I guess all they have to do for Mike and Mike is set up cameras.

I'm betting we see a lot better performance the second half of the season, but that really shouldn't be too hard. Just watching this series against the Rockies you can tell he has changed his swing and is not twisting his upper body as much which is letting him see the ball better and is making it easier for him to make contact and drive the ball the other way when he should.

Throughout most of the year he's been twisting his upper body and turning his head and whiffing on anything low or away, but now he's taking pitches, driving it to the opposite field, and just looking a whole lot better.
