Not saying you're a bad person if you don't feel guilty but most people generally go through those feelings of guilt with the questions of "What if I hadn't thrown the ball?", "What if I had thrown it a little further?", "What if I threw it to a different person?"...

To throw the ball to a man who was simply getting a ball for his little boy and in the process you see that same man fall to his death (with his son watching no less) has to affect you. That's just human nature.

I truly feel for Josh as well as the entire Stone family.

Very terrible news. I agree though, nothing should be changed. Can't keep putting rules in place to patch up anything that happens. The Rangers (and other teams with gaps like this) should perhaps add a net of some sort, thats it.

Though he probably would never say anything about it, if you watch when the ball goes up, the ball was actually going towards the guy who tried to catch the man who fell. The man who fell reached over in front of the other one and blocked his glove. Seeing as he didn't have a glove, he tried to catch it with 2 hands instead of grabbing the rail.

Last year's incident was not the same. He leaned over 2nd deck railing for a foul ball and fell.

A's reliever Brad Ziegler is on Mike & Mike discussing this right now. He was in the Bullpen area when it happened.

                    Unbelievably sad story.

This story especially hits home for me since I have 2 young boys. The worst part about seeing this is seeing the guys son watch him fall over the railing. All the guy wanted to do was catch a ball for his son, and that ended up costing him his life. Just a horrible tragedy. Thoughts and prayers for the family and Josh Hamilton.

Oh my goodness. That is horrible! I feel HORRIBLE for Josh. I cant imagine what he feels like knowing that a ball he through cased a man to fall off the edge, but I feel worse for that man's son. It is horrible enough to lose your father. Trust me, I know. It happened to me as a little kid, too. But to see it happen, man I would be a wreck. But I am calling now for a mesh net to be installed between the stands and the wall. If there was one there, he would have just left with a headache from hitting his head. The stadium officials could have pulled him up from lying on the net.

As I said in another post, PETCO Park has a wall-stands gap in left field that's literally maybe two feet wide. The wall height is a standard size. Yet they have a chain link that runs across that section in left field. I don't really see anyone falling, let alone fitting through there in that stadium, but it's in place anyway. In fact, if I had a seat like his in Texas and I saw that gap, I would even make mention of it to a buddy of mine. "Why don't they cover that up? That's an awfully big fall."

I can see them having this put in at Arlington Stadium, mostly because it makes sense to be there. If it wasn't there in the first place because there was a functionality issue with it (like they need that area to be open for some reason), then they shouldn't put anything in place.

However, there should be zero change regarding how fans are given baseballs. Don't take away part of the entertainment value of going to the ballpark.

EDIT: Sometimes I see those seats up on top of the green monster at Fenway Park, and fear something is going to happen up there with a ball that's hit just shallow of a home run. Yes, it would take a serious lean-over to end up falling 37 feet and down onto the warning track below, but I'm fearing the worst for that section that, someday, it might happen to them. I'm also fearing that the day it happens, there will be a net put in front of them or they will take down the seats. If you want to take precautions, do it now and save a person's life, not later after they've already died from it. But only do it if you feel it doesn't seem to go far, far beyond freak accident protocol.

It's clearly past the waist where the cops are standing but seems to be at or below elsewhere. look at the guy to the far right with his back turned and where the railing is?

The only way you could fall off the monster at Fenway is if you physically climb up on the ledge and jump. We had a company summer outing there 3 years ago where we basically had the entire park to ourselves. I tested it myself because I thought the same thing. there are two ledges, see in photo below:

If you look at this picture, the part with two railings is where it happened. The first rail has always been there, and that's where code says they should be. The second rail was put in place not long after they opened the Ballpark for extra security.

What's weird is that this game should have never been played in the beginning. This was a makeup of a game that took place on May 11th when Moreland had his first ever grand slam. Umpire Gerry Davis called the game off two outs short of being official and the Rangers ahead 7-0. It's just a set of circumstances that are eerie.

And on Josh Hamilton: If he truly is a Christian, then he must know that there is a time for everybody to go in life. When we wake up, we don't know if we have sixty years or sixty minutes left to go for the remainder of our life. We can't decide when our time is up. Mr. Stone couldn't decide it, Josh Hamilton couldn't decide it, only the Lord knows his time shall be no more. I know this must upset Josh, but there is work still remaining this year. He knows that, and I highly doubt that comments like "[I h]ope this isn't the begining (sic) of the end of Josh's career," are worth merit.
