Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
Apparently Dombroski has listed Inge under Don Kelly (hasn't he played every position, including P and C?) in the depth chart. Not sure how true that is.Comment

Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
Discussions between the Phillies and Royals about Melky Cabrera have gotten serious enough that names are being exchanged. No deal is close though.

Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
Actually, what I think Inge really needs is to be DFA'ed right out of Detroit, but that's not going to happen. So this is probably the next best thing to have happen.

Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
It appears the Red Sox interest in Carlos Beltran may be starting to fade a bit. The Sox are apparently not too impressed with the Mets asking price of 3 of their best remaining prospects, the same price they have also asked of the Atlanta Braves.
This could come from the fact that the Mets say they are "certain they wil not trade Jose Reyes" at the trade deadline (which still means he could be traded) making Beltran the lone chip to help re-stock the farm. Players like Willie Harris, Scott Hairston, Tim Byrdak, and Chris Capuano could all be dealt and bring back small returns.
Unrelated but worth mentioning: Aramis Ramirez has said he would veto any trade out of Chicago, so unless he has a change of heart as Derrek Lee did last year when he nixed a trade to the Angels and later accepted one to the Braves Ramirez will be finishing the season in Wrigley.Comment

Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
There is a 99% Inge will be released tomorrow.
Dombrowski did say Kelly is above Inge. When asked if Inge will stay on the roster, he said "I'm not going to talk about the roster." The writing is on the wall. Inge had a good run, but it's time.
But boy did The Tigers get better. You replaced a literal black hole offensively, with a switch hitter hitting .280, with a .340 OBP, and a .750 OPS.
Betemit is not a great defender. Inge struggled defensively this year by his standards. But the Tigers will trade bad D and a .280 average for good defense and a .170 average. Plus Kelly is a nice late inning replacement, he's solid at third.
They have one of the better lineups in the AL now:
Jackson
Boesch
Ordonez
Cabrera
Martinez
Peralta
Guillen
Avila
Betemit
That's 3 switch hitters, 2 lefties, 4 right handers. 4 of them are top 10 in batting average.
And aside from Jackson and Betemit, the other 7 are proven hitters who hit for power and average. Real balanced and dangerous lineup that should produce down the stretch.
Very good move. Gained a lot but gave up very little.JayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment
