I guess the price depends on who the prospects are.

Yeah it seems that, way. I just would of thought how high Rasmus value was a week or so ago, they would be asking for Danks or Floyd. Not a cardinals fan, so I could care less but Jackson is not that big of a deal IMO.. Maybe I don't watch him that closely.

He used to be a top-of-the-rotation starter when he was on the Rays, but now he projects as a 3 at best IMO. They don't need an ace in return anyway, as they have Wainwright and then Shelby Miller waiting in the wings. Still, having Jackson at the back of the rotation, Thornton as a solid set-up option, and then prospects is a nice haul, I think. How much more the Cardinals ask for all depends on the prospects.

I can see the Cards preferring Jackson over Danks or Floyd. He's got the better FIP and K/BB #'s. He seems to have been getting better each year over the last 3 years and maybe Mr. Duncan can work some more magic with him.

I'm getting the feeling that the Tigers will let Guillen play out the string at 2B. At least he can hit better than Raburn. Good thing Peralta has been average at SS defensively this season.

I'd like the Tigers to pull a Cabrera-esque deal for Pence+Wandy. Dombrowski and Leyland are gone if they don't make the playoffs, may as well push all in. The small pickups the last few years haven't exactly been getting the job done.

How has Raburn done for you guys? I always thought he was a good player, but also borderline between an everyday player and utitlity guy.

He is a nightmare defensively and inconsistent offensively, in my opinion at least.

He's been atrocious, maybe a HAIR better than Inge.

Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread

Raburn is fine now. The second the schedule turns July, he hits. The past week or so he's been hitting, but he's a utility man now with Guillen back.

Pence and Wandy Rodriguez would be a horrible deal. First off, the Tigers are very good (and deep) in the outfield so there is no need or room for Pence. And Rodriguez is an average pitcher, with a big contract, who would get rocked in the AL.

Detroit will get a starter and that will probably be it. They don't need anything else. Their bullpen is taking shape with Coke, Alberquerque, Benoit, and Valverde.

How about Alberquerque though? He has 54 strikeouts in 32 innings. 15 K's per 9 innings. Crazy. He was a very low key signing last December and was only called up to replace an injured player. He's kept the Tigers bullpen from complete disaster. He's pretty much been the Zumaya of 2006, coming out of nowhere.

                          Pretty much this.

Our outfield is not deep, at least in my opinion. We have Jackson (sophomore slump) and Boesch and have been rotating the other position for most of the year. Ordonez hasn't been great to this point, but he's not a long term solution anyways. There is nothing wrong with adding another bat, as we've seen with these Tiger teams, we fall apart in the second half, may as well add as much as we can. I don't know what's wrong with Wandy, we obviously need to add another arm to the rotation. He has good K numbers, but I guess changing leagues is always a gamble. At the end of the day, we have to make a big move to ensure a playoff spot.

Jackson's numbers are pretty solid since the start of May, he slumped hard the first month. Magglio has been hitting .300 since he came back a month ago, Boesch is hitting .300, Dirks has hit 6-7 homers, and Wells, even though he just got demoted to Toledo (needed an extra spot) has been solid hitting .250 playing great defense at all 3 positons.

Outfield is not a problem. Pence isn't worth what the astro's will be looking for

Some notes from Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports:

The Phillies are telling teams that Jarred Cosart is unavailable, especially for a rental like Carlos Beltran.

The Rangers have ramped up their pursuit of Beltran in the last 36 hours.

I don't think the Tigers need OF with Dirks and Wells as depth, I don't know how you guys feel about them. Any trade for a pitcher would be a stopgap for Jacob Turner, right? In that case, I'd go for an experienced pitcher with an expiring contract that can help the team in the playoff run, then next season Turner could come up, and they could use the money on something else.
