Jon Heyman reports Carlos Pena will "almost surely" be moved:
He notes the D'Backs would be in play for Pena. I wonder what Chicago would want back in a potential trade.
Just hope they get something decent for him.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
Not big news, but I found this info in an article about the trade deadline:
Talks between the Minnesota Twins and Texas Rangers about Jeff Manship have grown increasingly intense in recent days, and one source with knowledge of the situation says that the Rangers are dangling a PTBNL or cash considerations.

Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
Report from Cincinnati. According to radio station 700 WLW in Cincinnati, there COULD be a MAJOR trade surfacing that would send TB stars B.J. Upton, and James Shields to Cincinnati for Johnny Gomes, Travis Wood/Homer Bailey/Edinson Volquez/Mike Leake, Yonder Alsonso, Devin Mesoraco, and possibly another prospect.
That would be huge if it happened, but also JUST a rumor. So don't get too excited yet, folks.Check out my three critically acclaimed dynasties in the Dynasty HQ section:

As for the trade itself for the Reds, it sure does take care of the imidiate needs, which may be what they want to do. But it would shoot down the future.Check out my three critically acclaimed dynasties in the Dynasty HQ section:

The Cardinals want players they don't actually have to give anything up for. The Reds seem to be all over the place with what they are looking for.Comment

Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
Pretty much this.
Our outfield is not deep, at least in my opinion. We have Jackson (sophomore slump) and Boesch and have been rotating the other position for most of the year. Ordonez hasn't been great to this point, but he's not a long term solution anyways. There is nothing wrong with adding another bat, as we've seen with these Tiger teams, we fall apart in the second half, may as well add as much as we can. I don't know what's wrong with Wandy, we obviously need to add another arm to the rotation. He has good K numbers, but I guess changing leagues is always a gamble. At the end of the day, we have to make a big move to ensure a playoff spot.Comment
