I don't know who that was that started for the White Sox, but damn did Kosuke head shot that dude. That was really scary.

    1.5 back going to Detroit.

Freeman should win the award, he carried their offense for a while a long with Uggla. He plays like he's been around for years.

        Re: 8/15 - 8-21 Game Discussion Thread

It has to be between Freeman and Kimbrel.

Beachy has been great, even more so when you consider he is a rookie, but as a SP he is only 5-2. Most of that is because of his lack of run support, but that will be W/L matter when you're a SP.

Espinosa shouldn't be in the discussion. He had a really nice June and has shown good power all year, but overall he hasn't been close to ROY caliber.

Barney has a really good BA and had that great catch against Uggla.

Ultimately though I think it has to be either Freeman or Kimbrel.
Barney is the only person who is close to Freeman's output offensively. Barney has a slightly better BA, but Freeman is better everywhere else (HR, Slg, OBP, OPS, RBI). Freddie has also played some great defense this year, and he helped carry the offense along with Uggla on a playoff team while Chipper and Mac were out.

Kimbrel has just been amazing. He had a couple of rough patches in the first 2 months of the season, but he has been amazing since then. He set the rookie record for saves before the all-star break and is on pace to shatter the rookie record for saves during a season, he's k/9 is sick, and he hasn't given up a run since early June.

It has to be between those two guys, and I really don't know who you pick between them.

That could've been a lot worse, Juan Nicasio's injury was one of the scariest i've seen in a while.

Freddie should get the ROY, I mean he's a rookie putting up numbers like he's been here for a while, playing great defense, and playing everyday! I mean what Kimbrel is doing is pretty special but he's not that every day offensive star leading the team like Freeman is.

And Kipinis to the DL. Damn. At least we'll have solid defense at 2nd but losing that bat is bad news bears.

Cory Luebke going to be stealing some 3rd place votes for ROTY. In my opinion should Freeman have a solid September, he'll win the award.

Edit: It's too late for Jesus Guzman, no ROTY for you.

Damn you Mike Adams. The Rangers had a chance to really take the life out of the Angels, and you just gave them the hope they need.

I thank the heavens that Tony La Russa can be such a jackass because Colby Rasmus is TEARING IT UP! Rasmus and Lawrie seem to be a perfect 1-2 combo as they're feeding off each other in the lineup.

Nice to see the Jays playing so well at least offensively and once again RR Cool J dominates. I love watching Romero pitch.

Adams has been well below average since the trade. Oh well. 3 of 4 from the Angels and a 6 game lead. It's all but over.

I'm sure that's what the Tigers thought when they were up 7 on September 7th and 3 with 4 to go a couple years ago.

That will get brought up every chance I get, Psy. Until the Tigers get past the first round, that is.

Anyway, I will deem the 4-game series against the Yankees a success if the Twins come out of it losing by less than 20 runs combined. Current count: 4.

Past the first round? All we would have to do is win a game to surpass the Twins

Seriously though, it's tough to watch Jim Leyland ruin the team in the 2nd half for the 5th time in the past 6 seasons. I've never seen a manager give so many days off to all stars, play utility men hitting .230 more than guys hitting .300. No urgency from him at all. And on top of all of it, he gets an extension Last week. lol.

And The Indians over the past month have trotted out some of the worst lineups I've ever seen on a baseball field. The White Sox have like 100 million tied up to guys hitting .200 and pitchers with ERA's over 5. The Tigers actually have a real good team, just an inconsistent rotation. But their manager makes them look much worse, to keep it exciting. That must be it.
