^haha that picture describes the Dodgers season perfectly.

Lackey and Burnett continue to amaze me. Both get Verlander/Hernandez money, 5 yrs/80 million range, and honestly they might be the worst two starting pitchers in baseball.

Lackey has been so much awful since he left LA.

I'll give Lackey a pass this year since his wife is battling cancer.

That's sad to hear. His still was pretty bad last year though. How long has she had it?

Lackey's wife also had a miscarriage too. I can understand why he hasn't been playing well the last 2 years.

Isn't Manny still being paid by the Dodgers? As much as I think Wells has the worst it's gotta go to a guy who retired, if that indeed is the case.

I would rather pay someone to be retired, than pay them to be one of the worst players in the league.

You can not judge year one of a 7 year deal. Especially when his career numbers beg to differ from a fluke/down year with a few injuries to boot.

30 million a year tied to an approaching 40 year old player in your payroll is the worst IMO. Regardless of what team he is on.

Re: Who's get the worst contract?

Oh man please don't get me started on Crawford, lol. The guy is a completely mis-managed talent. Him hitting 7th regularly? That's a travesty. I still think Matt Holliday was a better fit, cuz they don't need the D in left @ Fenway, (as shown by trotting Manny out there for so many years), and he would have slid perfectly into the 5-hole. And it turns out, a Holliday deal would have been cheaper! I know, hind-sight is 20-20.

Look, I know the guy is struggling but he hasn't known anything but 1st, 2nd, and primarily 3rd in the order in his career. Pushing him down to the 7 hole is not doing him any favors. Put him where he has the great numbers his whole career so far and he'll snap out of it. He only had 19 homers and 90 RBI hitting mostly 2nd and 3rd last year, which was the whole damn reason why they signed him: to put up comparable, if not even better numbers!

He's sick of being low in the order and has it in his head that he can't get it together cuz they're not promoting him. At all. Move Pedroia to the 3 hole and Crawford 2nd against righties, then put Pedey back to #2 against lefties and Crawford 3rd. Unfortunately, with a playoff berth on the line, they will not experiment with the lineup now. I think it would be a smart idea to mix it up and get him going for the playoffs though. Imagine him and Ellsbury running wild around the bases and making the pitchers nauseas.

And if not 2nd or 3rd, put him 5th in front of Ortiz and behind Youk. That way when he gets on, he can be driven in. Right now in the 6/7 spot, even if he gets on, he has to rely on the crapshoot of the bottom third (combo of Salty, Scutaro, and Reddick), driving him in. Just a wasted talent.

To sum it up, it's like Jose Reyes's next team telling him to hit 7th or 8th next year. Total lack of common sense. I'm just so frustrated with the whole thing.

It just blew my mind when Youk was out and Pedey slid to 4th to open up the 2-hole, and they put Scutaro up there! That's crap! That was a perfect opportunity to get Crawford in a groove and raise his confidence, but NOOO. Of course not. When Scutaro is gone next year this won't happen. Next year should look like this:

                          Ells
                          Crawford
                          Pedey
                          Gonz
                          Youk
                          Ortiz (if returns)
                          Reddick
Salty/ maybe tek (if he comes back)
Lowrie/Iglesias, if his bat is good in ST

The whole thing of Crawford 2nd/3rd was what Buster Olney and all the other good baseball ppl predicted when Crawford signed his mega-deal. However, that was prior to the arrival of A-Gon. But I still think my lineup above creates the most runs/run "opportunities".

As long as Crawford is "hitting" like he is, he doesn't have any business at the top of a lineup.

So Cabrera, was Tony Gwynn overrated for his career? Constant well over .300 hitter, limited power, lots of doubles and posted a career OPS of .847.
Mauer also provides more value that is "unseen" in terms of playing a catcher, as in calling pitches and handling the pitching staff. How much value can you put on that?

Tony Gwynn was somewhat overrated during his career. Still a deserving HoF'er, though.
