Re: holy hell i just met Mark Prior!

I played baseball in high school and had a local batting cage close by. I went one day and saw Steve Finley (when he was with the O's) taking batting practice there too! Since I wanted to use the same cage as he (the 80mph cage), we switched off for like an hour and a half. He gave me some great pointers about my swing and timing. Got an autograph as well. Obviously, I was crushed when we traded Finley away to the Astros in that GOD-AWFUL deal with Finley, Schilling, and Harnisch to the Astros for Glenn Freakin-Davis.

I see Thome and Girardi all the time in Peoria...I remodeled Jims best friends house (A peoria Police officer "k-9 unit")...Him and Matt work out together in the off season...

My brother-in-law pitched to him in H.S. and got tatered for about 480 feet...

Dude had tremendous power in High School...

He almost begged the Cubs to sign him in the offseason......He is a Cubs fan... But the stupid Tribune turned him down....

I guess they figured we didn't need the HUGE left hand bat...

I looked up at him and said, "Hey, aren't you that guy on The Simpsons?" He laughed and said, "Yeah, I guess that's me."

(For those that don't remember, there was an episode of the Simpsons that had a bunch of baseball players.)

I also took a piss next to Kevin Hatcher and told him not to worry because I traded him to the Stars in NHL 98 after he was traded here. He laughed and said, "yeah, I did that, too."

Man, that's awesome! That would be awesome to meet Prior and get his autograph, seeing as how I think he will be one of the best pitchers of our time when his career is all said and done. It's crazy when you think about it. They could just be any normal person walking in the store, but if they are a famous athlete or person, you wind up asking yourself "what the hell is he doing here?" like he doesn't go out shopping and such at places like that.

Same kind of thing happened here with Paul Kariya. Well, I live right beside the University of Maine, so I saw a TON of his games when I was smaller. Anyway, one day, I was in the mall and I happened to see him walking around with a couple guys, and even though I saw him all the time on the ice, I never saw him out of the arena, so I had to ask for his autograph. I was nervous as hell, since he had a bunch of friends around, but I still talked to him. I said hey to him, and he ended up being the nicest guy I have met. I actually talked to him for like 5 or so minutes, even though I was pretty damn young. Anyway, I got his autograph on a UMaine poster my dad just happened to get me earlier, so that is still hanging in my room. He is definitely one of the nicest athletes I have ever met, even though he wasn't in the pros at the time. But, I know he still is an awesome person, since he came back to UMaine a few years ago while with the Ducks to visit and wound up signing autographs for quite a while, including another one for me

My cousin just got married and her new husband and his best man related a funny story. They are from Buffalo, and a few years ago, they were at a bar. They went to the restroom and Rob Johnson walked in. There was a line at the urinal (and they were next in line), so my cousin's husband says to Rob, "You can go ahead." Rob says "no man, it's cool go ahead." He says "No, seriously, you can go." Rob Johnson looks at him with that "you are a psycho" look on his face and says "Go ahead." Talk about an awkward situation.
