Chipper also set the tone a couple weeks ago when he said, basically, that we don't need to win the games against (whoever it was).
That's when this collapse started.Comment

The '96 Yankees? The '97 Marlins? The '98 Padres? The '99 Yankees? The '00 Cardinals? The '01 Diamondbacks? The '02 Giants? The '03 Cubs? The '04 Astros? The '05 Astros? Even Chipper must get them confused sometimes.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: 9/19 - 9/28 Game Discussion Thread
I knew Mike Stanton's first home run last night wasn't all that far.
First home run: 408 feet

Second home run: 461 feet

Although, there's a difference between a home run being distant and a home run being impressive. 408 feet down the right field line is like a 480 foot bomb to dead center. It was unbelievable!
EDIT: I'm just starting watching the games right now, so I'm still watching pre-game on the Marlins broadcast... and it has the announcers disproving that the first ball went only 408 feet. How are they doing it? They have their sideline reporter sitting where the ball went, and from a viewfinder noting that she is 127 yards from home plate (381 feet), so she says it's hard to believe the ball could have only traveled 30 more feet to land at ground level when measuring the true distance. What the cold bitch doesn't realize is that she measured off the hypotenuse length of a triangle, not its base. That distance would probably be closer to 365 feet or so, where that blue marker is. Since the ball's horizontal velocity decreases significantly as it's going downward compared to as it's going upward, an extra 45 feet on the ball at that height sounds pretty appropriate, if not maybe 50 feet or so.
Just some scientific input lol.Last edited by Blzer; 09-20-2011, 07:23 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

The Phillies' hitting needs to wake up in time for the postseason. I don't know when it decided to hibernate for the winter, but one or two runs might not do it this year.Comment

They'll be just fine. The main thing is to finish ahead of the Brew and to be healthy. The first objective will be accomplished and the second remains to be seen, but they'll need to approach that intelligently.Comment
