Ozzie Guillen was released from his contract not traded.

I saw on ESPN.com that he was traded for two minor league players to the marlins, granted that's just what a source said and him being released from the contract makes more sense.

I'm not saying he should be fired but Tito's been there for an awfully long time. At some point the players start to tune out the same voice for years on end. I do think it's more a problem of the players than the manager though. However if the Sox have a collapse or falter next season with Francona in the dugout he could be fired then.

My point is, the right stuff is there on paper. No "new manager" will light a hotter fire under their butts like Francona will. It's just stupid math in my mind.
Firing the manager in most cases doesn't make sense to me, but it doesn't stop it from happening.

You do know Ellsbury was young, and injured all those other years right? Not played a full season?

My comment makes perfect sense... Granderson benefits from the lineup, as well as Ellsbury benefiting and both going into their prime.

Ellsbury is finally 100% healthy. He is living up to EXACTLY what he has been scouted as his entire career. It is no shock in the baseball world. Really.

                        Agreed.

Players LOVE to play for him.

Their problem is injuries, injuries, injuries. Plain and simple. And baseball is 90% mental as all the old timers attest to. You get that negative mental make-up, then it can balloon.

I just wish the Yankees would actually try and beat the Rays... and not throw all them slow hanging "meatballs" they were tossing

You can put whatever lineup out there you want, injuries or no injuries. When your starting pitching puts up an ERA north of 7 for a month, you're gonna lose a bunch of games.

Bingo. This is, pretty much, on the shoulders of our starting staff. Not having a healthy Buchholz hurts that staff, but Lester and Beckett have been miserable this month and when your two "aces" aren't giving you anything close to a quality start and the other three members of your rotation suck balls...you're going to lose.

Injuries or no injuries the other big problem with the Red Sox is chemistry. This team has the worst chemistry of any Sox team that I can remember. The whole culture of the team is terrible.

All I've heard during this downward spiral are excuses and finger pointing. Ortiz taking shots at the starting pitching , Marco blaming Crawford for a blown play , Crawford turning around and blaming it on Marco , and talk of the players turning on Tito.

Then you have John Lackey. This guy stares down Tito when pulled from games after getting rocked. Shows the worst body language on the field I've ever seen. Yet , not a single player says anything about it. Where is Varitek in all of this?

I hope the Sox get into the playoffs , but they don't deserve to be there.

Actually , Pap did take responsibility for a blown save last week.

Yup - it's crazy that the mentally challenged one of the bunch is the only one to really own up to it (Pedroia does as well, to an extent, but he's physically challenged so the point is still valid).
