Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau combining for 7 home runs this year, and the Twins almost losing 100 games.

The Red Sox 2-10 start to the season, imagine if the even went 5-5, could have been a whole different post season ah well...
and the useless Yankees getting swept by the Rays, hope that stuffs their post season run now, all they had to do was win one game and the Red Sox were still in it, unbelieveable...
I think the thing that shocks me the most is red sox fans blaming anyone but themselves when they
A. Couldn't beat the orioles down the stretch
B. Went 1-6 down the stretch against the rays
C. Were always in control of their destinyOriginally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: What shocked you the most this season?
Useless Yankees were the only reason the sox were even in the race the last 3 days as while the sox were blowing game after game to the orioles, the Yankees were taking 3 out of 4 from Tampa.

Also, a lot blame injuries, but they were no worse in September than at other points when the Sox were rolling.
What killed it is the 3 regular starters who were still healthy (two of them considered "aces" by many fans) performed miserably down the stretch (or, what Lackey would call "average") and the bullpen got overworked and then underperformed as well.Comment

The fact that Francona doesn't have a job right now and Garndenhire does.

Re: What shocked you the most this season?
-Cincinnati Reds falling back as far as they did after what seemed to be a "coming into their own" season last year. The Nationals and Blue Jays won more games than Cincy this year.
-Adam Dunn sucking at an all-time bad level. I honestly assumed that with him being a full time DH, and playing that small park in Chicago, he would launch 50 homers.
-Dan Uggla's 33 game hit streak, considering he came into the streak batting .178.
-Ian Kennedy's season.
-How BAD the Braves' offense was for the last month of the season.
-Jose Bautista putting up another incredible offensive year. I, honestly, figured last year was an aberration.
-The Mariners losing, what was it? 20 straight games? I would think that with Felix and Pineda going 2 out of 5 games, they could have won at least one of those games.Last edited by st0rmb11; 09-30-2011, 11:12 PM.

Asdrubal Cabreras breakout year, if it wasn't for him the Indians would've been last in the majors in offense (or very close to it).
Justin Masterson pitching like an ace up until the end of September (I'm hoping he was just tired after making such a jump in number of innings pitched).
Watching Freddie Freeman ground into a double play to end the Braves season.
Watching Dan Johnsons game tying home run against the Yankess, then watching Evan Longorias walk off homer to send the Rays to the playoffs.
Watching Jonathan Papelbon blow a save after being a strike away from ending the game.
The Indians finishing a game under .500 after being picked to finish last in the division by many people.Browns
