No the Cubs know Prior and the defense blew it. The fan had the right to that ball and Alou wouldn't have caught it anyway. They just don't want to take the blame for it is all. I'm sure that the fan made Alex Gonzalez drop the ball out of his glove and made Prior give up 4 runs.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Actually on Sportscenter the replay showed Alou had his glove right under the guys hand, so it was almost a given that he would have caught it. Obviously, the team you root for has no bearing on your judgment of this game does it?

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Well actually since the Cards got elminated I had to root for the Marlins and Yankees. Curses aren't made to be broken. The Cubs are cursed. The Red Sox are cursed. The Tigers are cursed. It's just a part of baseball these days.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

No, I think you may have misunderstood what I was trying to say. When I saw your avatar I noticed it was Edmonds and you live in St. Louis. So I deduced that from the facts that were present, that you were a Cards fan and therefore would root against the Cubs and tend to blame the players for the loss because you want to see them lose. So I hope I cleared up the meaning of my last post with this one.

Yeah I agree this guy needs to be left alone - As far as I know he didn't pitch the ball and he didn't swing the bat. Sounds like sour grapes to me. And if you look at the replays there are a ton of other fans trying to catch the ball right there with him.

Bottom line is it was a bad pitch and time and chance happened. The fielder just wanted someone to blame instead of pointing a finger at the pitcher.

One thing I do I hate is an idiot St. Louis Cards fan.

All I have read from *poster to remain nameless* is bash the Cubs and who they were going to lose to the Braves... or The Cubs are going to lose to the Marlins..

Cubs will win tonight, then I guess you can root for your favorite team the Yankees errrrrrr.. I'm sorry the sit at home Cardinals are not playing?

Remember this if the Cubs lose tonight, it's on the so-called Diehard Cub fan! He should know, get the hell out of the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am not buying the argument we all would have tried to go for it..

I am sorry, I would have known the situation... AND GOT OUT OF THE WAY, AND ALLOW MY FAVORITE TEAM'S PLAYER ROOM TO CATCH THE PLAYABLE FOUL BALL....

Damn I am pissed off all over again..

Hmm, I get the same feeling from you. When the Cards first got elminated all of you Cub fans(Ones that will remain nameless) were just gloating about it and about how the Cubs finally made it back. And then you all blame it on some poor guy who tries to catch a foul ball for his kid at home. The pressure is on the Cubs tonight and Wood will crack. Just like Prior did.

Nothing I hate more than idiot Cub fans who have 70's style mustaches, beer bellies and throw balls back onto the field!

Has anyone seen the replay. I was just wondering how many people in the vicinity of that ball WERE NOT reaching for it. I willing to bet each one of the nearest people, and some who weren't even in good position were reaching for the ball OR ducking away from being hit by that hard @#@ ball. I believe that's just NATURAL human reactions...none of them were thinking "I better let Alou catch that".

Some of us say that we wouldn't have done the same...that's a very safe call, especially in hindsight, to make since we weren't there.
