Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
Prado for Delmon Young is really starting to look more realistic. Freddi Gonzalez said they are looking for a right handed hitter corner outfielder with power. Also known as Delmon Young. He said he cant' say Yes or No as to whether they are talking with Detroit about Young. If the Tigers throw in a solid prospect I think they'll have a deal.
The Braves could want Raburn. He's a better hitter than Young, and has been the best hitter in the baseball in the 2nd half since 2008. He can hit when he gets going.
Young doesn't get on base and can't play defense, but if were hitting 6th or 7th in the Braves lineup he'd be a good fit. I bet he would hit close to 20 HR and around .290.JayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
Haha I want to keep him though. .370 hitter with power in the 2nd half, over the past 4 seasons. Highest average in the AL.
I still think he should just show up to the team in June, but hey.
If we could get Prado at 2nd base, sign Dejesus or Crisp to play LF, and all the sudden you have two guys who can hit at the top of the lineup other than Jackson. And in the OF all the sudden you have 2 great defenders out there, and another threat to run in the lineup. And Dejesus or Crisp wouldn't even cost much, but they would address all of Detroit's needs.JayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
Beltre signed after the new ownership group took over. I just don't get why MLB will allow the Dodgers to pay that kind of money for a guy who isn't even a FA, but they wouldn't let the Rangers spend a few million to sign a draft pick. If MLB didn't allow the Rangers to do that, I don't think MLB should've allowed the Dodgers to extend Kemp until the new group takes over.Comment

Seriously, if Wren gives up Prado for either one of those stiffs I'll be pissed...a lot of trash is still a lot of trash."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
Well Prado fills two of our needs with one player- a top of the order bat and a 2B who can play passable defense. I'm just curious as two who would be the other player(s) going back with Young in the deal? We don't want this to be Rentaria part two (actually, the Braves owe us for two deals). Don't trade Turner, Smyly or Castellianos (not a pitcher, but still) Dombrowski.
Then we could sign a DeJesus, Cepedes, Crisp ect to play in LF.Last edited by rdnk; 11-15-2011, 02:01 PM.Comment

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
Seriously doubt a Young/Prado deal goes down.
The Braves don't need to move him. Unless they're getting a good prospect or two in the deal, and Detroit sends a decent amount of cash(Young is projected to make a few million more than Prado next year), it simply isn't going to happen.
The Braves are looking for possible upgrades in the OF and SS this off season. They're also looking for salary relief when it comes to a trade involving Prado, with the exception being a deal that completely knocks their socks off... So where exactly does a Young/Prado deal fit into any of that?Last edited by Jgainsey; 11-15-2011, 02:54 PM.Now, more than everComment

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
Get out of here with this "best hitter in baseball in the 2nd half since 2008" crap...they play 162 games/year and Raburn has shown he is a platoon player at best.
Seriously, if Wren gives up Prado for either one of those stiffs I'll be pissed...a lot of trash is still a lot of trash.
2009: .310/.369/.563/ .933 OPS (63 games)
2010: .315/.366/.534/ .900 OPS (70 games)
2011: .341/.393/.574/ .967 OPS (45 games)
September stats the past 3 years:
.365/.440/.670/ 1.000 OPS (114 games)
He's more than a platoon player. In the 2nd half, he hits an all star level. And he always hit well enough at the end of the year to offset his bad starts and end up with nice numbers (.891 OPS in '09, .814 OPS in '10). Look at those numbers, and it's not a small sample size since it's over the course of 3 seasons. Yes he does not hit much in the first two months, but if you can make it through until June, he hits at an all star level. He just had a great postseason too.
He's a good hitter. If he can ever figure it out in the first half, you will have a steal. But even the way he is, he's valuable. Gets better as the summer goes on. Rakes in August/September. Can play all 3 outfield positions, 2nd, 1st, and 3rd.
He's a Florida kid so maybe it's cold weather which causes him to struggle. Either way if the Tigers sent him and a nice couple prospects to Atlanta it would not be the worst trade in the world. How many platoon players can hit like that for a extended period of time? In 2009 Leyland moved him third in the lineup and they didn't miss a beat. They've always said he's built for the National League because of his versatility.
Obviously him for Prado straight up would not be good, it would depend on who else is involved. But I'm a Braves fan too, and if he was playing LF everyday he could be a bargain. He makes 1.3 million so there is some salary relief there.Last edited by CabreraMVP; 11-15-2011, 07:17 PM.JayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment
