Well, first of all, Jeff Weaver isn't in the center of attention now. He should try to get his confidence back. He should've known that the other guys would've been the center of attention because of what they've done as a Yankee.

The Blue Jays had some interest in Weaver and i'm sure he'd be a nice addition as a 3rd starter behind Halladay and Escobar. If anything he'll thrive on a team that's expected to do something but not with the mega expectations that the Yankees have.

I also think that Gil Patterson will fix any mechanical problems Weaver has picked up in NY. He's still young enough that he can be a servicable starter.

I've got a question. Did any of you actually ever watch Weaver this year and last year? I'd love to see this "great stuff" he supposedly has. Just cause you throw hard, which Weaver doesn't throw THAT hard, doesn't mean you'll ever be a good pitcher. Take Armando Benitez for example, I think we'd all agree that he's absolutely terrible. But, he's got "great stuff", right? If you have seen Weaver, you'd notice that his breaking ball is very hittable and not sharp at all. He needs to do one of two things to become even a decent pitcher. 1) Work all offseason on develpoing a breaking ball that actually breaks a little, rather than floating to the plate, and also make sure his fastball (sinker) is down in the zone. 2) Get a couple more pitches, like a changeup and a splitter, and learn to control them better. You forget that Weaver pitched DECENT at best in Detroit, and that's a pitchers' ballpark. He's had two good years.

205 H, 96 ER, 26 HR, 11-15 w/ 4.32 ERA. -2001- 33 G, 229.1 IP, 235 H, 104 ER, 19 HR, 13-16 w/ 4.08

H, 35 ER, 12 HR, 5-3 w/ 4.04 ERA. -2003- 32 G, 159.1 IP, 211 H, 106 ER, 16 HR, 7-9 w/ 5.99 ERA.
Now I don't know about you, but giving up three times as many HR with the Yankees in over 40 LESS innings, means that it's because of Yankee Stadium being a smaller ballpark than Comerica. Case closed, Jeff Weaver is a below average pitcher.

Sounds a little like Dennis Tankersley to me. And I can't believe some Padres fans want to trade Klesko for him , we've got enough bad pitchers.
