    Josh Hamilton Drinking Again

Find all the latest Rotoworld fantasy sports news, live coverage, videos, highlights, stats, predictions, and results right here on NBC Sports.

According to Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News, Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton was spotted drinking alcohol on Monday night at a bar in the Dallas area.

What kind of alcohol he drank (and how much) is currently unclear. Hamilton, a recovering drug and alcohol addict, is supposed to remain completely sober as part of a pledge he's made to his family and the Rangers organization. A team spokesman said in a statement to the Dallas Morning News that the Rangers are "aware of a situation" but not ready to comment.

This stuff is getting out of hand. Really? He was spotted having a couple drinks, and all of a sudden he's a raging alcoholic and a clubhouse cancer. Let the guy relax sometimes. It's so unfortunate that every single event in his life will be criticized and evaluated. There is no situation to comment on. Was it reported that he was wasted and couldn't walk out of the bar? If not, I see absolutely no problem.

It's a problem because he's an alcoholic and an addict. He's stated that many times. For him, one beer is one too many.

Yeah I know he's a recovering addict, but I've known plenty of recovering alcoholics who could handle 1 or 2 drinks every now and then without any problems or relapses. Had the story said he's been seen at the bar every night for a week, then I would worry.

I wouldn't doubt he probably also drank a couple of the nights after that fatal incident with the fan last year.

Probably just something stressful going on with him right now. I'd pass it off as an isolated incident for the time being, but I would still keep a watchful eye on him just in case.

I would hate for him to fall into that darkest place again.

Exactly. Hell, it could still be related to that. I mean, that's not an easy thing to get over.

Once you're an alcoholic, you can never have another drink again. Every alcoholic that I've ever known has either totally abstained from drinking or has relapsed two, three, four or more times over. There's no such thing as a time to "relax" with alcohol anymore. Hamilton knows this, and it's his fault in getting in this mess especially going to a bar (and there are rumors going around with whom he went; if it's who is reported, the Rangers need to find a way to fine him in a round-about way).

By the way opinions, why didn't you laugh and gloat "the saga continues..." in this thread like you did in that pm? You seem to think this is a really funny matter in a very sick way.

                Absolutely.

He can never, ever have a drink again. Bottom line.

                Hope he doesnt slip.

I agree. An addict can't go back and just causally drink.

I can't blame Kinsler, if he in fact was there with him.

For all we know they went to eat and be begged and pleaded with Josh not to drink. He might have been the one who talked Hamilton into telling the Rangers.

The problem with this is that none of it is adding up right now. Hamilton and Kinsler don't live anywhere close to Dallas. Even if they were in the area, why would both players go to a pub in public? That is unless they had the pub fare and Kinsler drank.

The only overreaction I've seen is from you.

A recovering alcoholic seen in a bar is a concerning thing.

I agree with the majority that an alcoholic can NEVER drink again. It's too much of a risk. It's just like with any addiction once you get back into it it's almost impossible to stop. So I think this is a troubling story and I hope the Rangers organization are taking a serious look at this and that Hamilton doesn't slip into alcoholism that plagued him in his past.
