Honestly, I'll reserve judgment altogether as it's none of my business.

People make mistakes. I'm not excusing his actions, but I too have made a lot of mistakes in my life so I'm not going to throw stones from a glass house.

I hope he learns from the whole ordeal and makes things right with the people who this has affected the most.

Just saw the video on MLB.com at first I was like "Okay... he drank.. so what?" I forgot that he had that issue. He's one of my favorite players in the A.L but I do must say this guy has been having such a terrible year, hoping they can cut this guy some slack.
Why did I move here? I guess it was the weather.

Out of curiosity, since I saw this mentioned somewhere (I think on HardballTalk), you think if this happened a couple weeks ago Texas would've been more aggressive in their pursuit of Prince Fielder and more willing to let Hamilton walk after the year?

I realize it doesn't matter, because the timing doesn't line up at all, I just found it to be an interesting hypothetical.

Knowing what Detroit offered him I'd say not a chance.

I really think the Rangers were in hard after Fielder, and that Simpson was speaking out of his hind end when he said he would do whatever it took to keep Hamilton. It just so happens that the Tigers got into "whatever it takes" mode and threw all sorts of things at Fielder.

The Rangers need to make tough decisions now, but they are in a position to where they can do it and not hurt the team. They need to lock up Kinsler and Napoli right now, and then worry about Hamilton when he hits free agency. What I don't want to see is the fanbase dictating front office decisions, crying for Hamilton, and missing out on Kinsler, Napoli, and possibly Andrus due to Hamilton getting a large contract.

I agree. When it was rumored to be a 6 year deal around $180 with an option after 3 years,
I was all for the Rangers signing Fielder and if Hamilton walked after this season, oh well. When it got up to a 9 year deal, no way. I think that was foolish.

Who knows if Hamilton cheated on his wife that night, but he did say there were "other things" other than alcohol, that were being taken care of. Who knows what those other things are.

RUMOR: People are shopping a sex tape with Josh Hamilton from the other night. Hmm...

well it is sad to think he did not keep his promise about not drinking anymore. I think that he need to go rehab or it might get worse.

                    Re: Josh Hamilton Drinking Again

I was at the hospital over the weekend and bought his book on my Kindle Fire... I figured if nothing else, it would make the time pass.

I could not put the book down.

The guy has been to hell and back. It's unreal how far gone he was. It was all of his own doing, but man... To think that he came back from where he once was... It was a lot worse than I thought. I didn't realize that he was smoking crack for like two years. Within getting clean, he was in the Big Leagues seven months later.

This was a guy who blew (no pun intended) through 500K in liquid cash one summer to feed his cocaine/crack addiction. One. Summer.

Imagine the talent this guy has... To be away from the game for four years... To never play an inning above Single A, I believe... It just blows my mind.

Like I said, this type of behavior is all of his own doing and I pray, for his and his family's sake that he never returns to those depths again. He is an addict and will never not be one. He might have some slip ups... It's unfortunate, it's sad, and he's going to hurt the people that he loves - but what matters, after reading his book, is that he jumps right back into that support system and recommits himself to staying clean.

I am not excusing his actions, obviously, but I am rooting for him to stay clean... Not even from a baseball perspective, but rather for his family. Imagine the support that he has for people to not have given up on him in the past when he was a junkie on his way to an early death.

Dude needs to realize that he can never put himself in these situations that breed temptation. Because if he continues to do so, he will lose sometimes - and the aftershocks of that could be devastating to his staying sober and clean for the long haul.

Imagine how good this guy would have been if he didn't piss away four years of his life. Crazy.

The guy's definitely an incredible talent. Most people with that story have a hard enough time just getting their life back on track but he's playing professional baseball at an all star rate. He would've been insanely good without the drugs.

I don't think it would have mattered. I think he needed to get out of Florida. Change of scenery and the chance to get away from some influences there probably helped him more than anything.
