Perhaps it just has to do with what university you're looking at. At UT-Arlington, the baseball games have about the same amount of passion as the basketball games from the fans, and the park fills up pretty well on the weekends. Yeah there are more errors, but it's what one would expect from 19-22 year olds.

Six colleges (out of triple digits) averaged an attendance of more than 5,000 per game.
Forty-four (out of triple digits) minor league clubs averaged an attendance of more than 5,000 per game.

Oh, I know what you're saying. I also know that the reason for that is because they don't need to be a bigger capacity due to not selling out as it is.Comment
