It's been awful. We were a great baserunning team last year, but we've already run into 3 (or is it 4?) outs on the base paths tonight.

Lee, Worley, and Hamels pitched well, but no run support.

I hope someone can break out....like John Mayb Jr., or maybe Dom Brown gets a call-up after dominating AAA and suddenly turns a page @ MLB level. Otherwise, gonna be a looooonnnngggg season, because even when Utley/Howard do get back, don't know how effective they'll be.
Hamels did not pitch WELL. He was fair at best. And let's not start the Dom Brown chants already. He has 2D vision for 3D fly balls. I have a feeling Posednik might get a shot. And where the hell is this lefty for Valdez that they supposedly got? Not hanging onto Valdez looks like a bad move right now. Helluva utility guy with a gun.

Yep. Hosmer got thrown out trying to steal third, then Francoeur got picked off two pitches later trying to steal second before the ball was on its way to the plate.

Three I think. Maybe four, I've lost count at this point.

Tom Milone against the Royals tonight. First time in baseball history a pitcher has had this line.

Best thing to happen to Rangers fans tonight: Ian Kinsler signs a 5 year deal worth $70 million. Great deal for the Rangers.

                  great news indeed

sign Hamilton next and the franchise will be set for a while, especially with their farm system

It has to be incredibly hard to face 30 batters and not strike out any of them.

Welp....Sergio Santos better shape up or Jays fans will start flinging arrows at him. I didn't get a chance to listen to the postgame show but knowing Jays fans they're probably grousing a bit.

The bats are out of sync but the starting pitching has been lights out. Once the bats start going I think this'll be a real quality team. Alvarez is a diamond in the rough and I bet by the end of this season lots of people are going to be talking about him.

Here's hoping the bats can pick things up tomorrow with Drabek starting.

Hamels could've pitched better for sure, and I just included him because either way he didn't get any run support. The non-growth of Dom Brown has stagnated the Phillies ability to hold ground while guys like Utley and Howard get back. I wish they hadn't moved Valdez either, he was a solid Utility guy and a right-handed bat they sorely lack.

So my Dad was talking baseball with me the other day and thinks that the Nationals could be like the '84 Mets, with Strasburg filling the Doc Gooden role on the mound, sans drug use.

                            Thoughts?

Hamels could've done a little better but he didn't pitch as bad as it seemed

Dom Brown should've been on the roster over Laynce Nix. He is a poor fielder, but let's not pretend that Juan Pierre or Scott Podsednik or Nix are miles ahead of him

Losing Valdez isn't a HUGE deal. Phillies fans seem to have this idea that he was some amazing player when he was here, and while he was fun to watch and made a lot of key plays, he was still mediocre. He isn't worth the money that he will make in Cincy this year

Charlie's decisions are questionable as usual

We knew the offense would be bad, but not this bad. Hopefully they figure it out

Hamels didn't pitch too bad he had his strikeout pitch going, the Marlins are just starting to put it together a lot at the plate after those 1st 2 bad games
