    Re: 4/4 - 4/15 Game Discussion Thread

I can't even complain about the Tigers game today. It was just the baseball gods. You can start 4-0 with all those lucky wins and expect to have everything go that well all time. They had to lose eventually. Lol. People are blaming Leyland, Schlereth, Valverde, etc. but it's whatever.

Valverde is falling apart though. He was incredibly lucky last year. He gave up so many base runners, he was real lucky. And he has absolutely no clue where the ball is going when he throws it. Nobody does. And this isn't just a knee jerk reaction from 2 games, he pitched the same way last year. Extremely wild. But the bounces aren't going his way so far in 2012. Benoit is far superior, not even close, and I'd rather see him pitch in these big situations.

I thought I was going to see a no hitter today the way Verlander was going. Oh well. You can't win them all.

I think this Toronto team is solid. Once Bautista gets out of this slump, oh my god, this season could be good... until August when they start slowing down and fall out of the contention for the division and/or wildcard they might have been in.
Romero was indeed dominant. I think that they will be pretty solid all year long. I don't really see a drop off unless the young guys in the back half of the rotation completely falls apart. I didn't realize this til last night but the Jays have the 2nd youngest starting rotation in MLB.

Nice to see a crowd of over 25K though it didn't look it on the TV. I know the Jays no longer count bought tickets in their crowd numbers so it's a legit 25K.

Glad to see Santos get over his early season hiccups.

Chapman has been amazing so far this year.
5 strikeouts in 2 innings, not bad at all.
            2-0 now too.

It's not that they lost, per se, it's the way that the did it that's shocking/irritating. If they go out and lose 7-2 in a regular game, hey - that happens. But to take a 2-run lead into the 9th with JV cruising, then have him give up 4 earned runs whilst the bullpen completely fails to stop the bleeding...it's a bad loss any way you slice it.

I agree on Papa Grande, though...he's always been really may-day out there, and at some point that catches up with you. That point is now, apparently.

Derek Jeter set the table and Curtis Granderson feasted. 2-0 Yankees in the top of the first inning in Baltimore.

Great baserunning by Juan Pierre to score that run there off the deflection!! Marlins and Phillies tied at 1 in the 3rd inning.

EDIT: 2-1 Phillies now on the RBI single by Jimmy Rollins! Woo!

EDIT: 3-1 Phillies now on the RBI single by Hunter Pence! Woo!

Phillies are showing really good patience in this inning!

2 run double by Freddy Galvis!! Phillies lead 5-1!

EDIT: Great 3rd inning by the Phils!! Made Josh Johnson throw over 40 pitches in the inning and scored 5 runs off him!
