You should be able to challenge pretty much anything you want to.

Yeah I'd say the Padres got hosed.

I heard either Buster Olney, Tim Kurkjian, or Jayson Stark say on the noon BBT that MLB is likely going to have a revamped replay system starting in 2013. It's supposed to have essentially a replay umpire in a booth, or something like that, who can make a ruling and relay it to the field in a matter of seconds. This situation today would have been perfect for that.
agreed. It looked close, but appeared behind home to me. The umpire clearly signaled dead ball, then midstream changed his ruling. The runners had stopped. Then triple play. Weird play.

Where's that "umpire **** ups add to the excitement of the game" thread?

Maybe the umpire thought Ellis picked it up in front of home plate which would mean fair ball, but I thought if it hit behind home plate originally that it was a dead ball, foul ball situation.

David "Houdini" Roberston will enter the game with the bases full of Angels in the top of the 7th inning with the score currently being 8-5 Yankees, with two outs.

David Roberston for most underrated relief pitcher?

Raul Ibanez is continuing his good-play with the Yankees. Torii's reaction to Raul's homer: "Wow. "

Hard to define "underrated" for relief pitchers.

If they're not a closer, they're pretty much all underrated.

Unless it's a Marlins relief pitcher then they're overrated

The Dodgers should enjoy the 9-1 start against cupcake teams, seven against a team that can't even play fundamental baseball. Fortunately for Matt Kemp he gets to have batting practice at PETCO Park next month on the 16th and 17th.

And about the triple play, I'm not surprised, the Padres keep finding new ways to get closer to the number one pick for 2013. Hopefully Moores isn't the controlling owner next year as he'll find another way to **** it up and make the team pass on the next Justin Verlander for the next Matt Bush.

To be fair on the triple play. Can't blame the Padres. The umpire Hochuli'd them.
