Re: 4/16 - 4/22 Game Discussion Thread
Hell the last time the Angels won the World Series they started the season 6-14. A little to early to write them off.
Pujols is starting to heat up. 9 game hit streak. He went 3 for 5 today with 3 doubles and missed a home run by about 2 inches.
Trumbo missed a 3 run shot by inches as well. He hit a ball off the wall, and it was never more than about 10 feet off the ground. Impossible to hit a ball any harder.
We'll see what happens, but it's a little premature to start burying this team.Last edited by bkrich83; 04-20-2012, 02:04 AM.Comment

Re: 4/16 - 4/22 Game Discussion Thread
If they're preaching pitching and defense, they haven't done so in a long time.
This falls on Hoyer and Byrnes... and Moorad and Moores. Bartlett is a defensive liability and so is Jesus Guzman. The lack of focus on the field falls on Bud Black.
This is one of many reasons why people don't go to the games and why the ratings are so poor. The product sucks, you get more bang for your buck laughing at them and expecting failure out of this team.
I just looked at the boxscore. 4 of the 8 Padres position players who started are hitting under .200 and Alonso is hitting .214. They are just a bad, bad ball club.
I read in the paper today, that with the new TV deal, 42% of the county doesn't get their games on TV. What they've failed to realize is that, combined with their terrible start and on field product has done nothing but breed apathy. Why would anyone buy a ticket to them play? How can fans become even slightly emotionally invested in this team if you can't even watch them on TV?
Poorly run franchise, with a poor on field product. They won't see a dime from me.Comment

Adding to this, the Tigers were 3-7, and 12-17 (after losing 7 straight) last year and they ended up okay.Comment

Yeah, imo, it's a litle to early to go in to panic mode. The Brewers were 13-19 to start the season as well as the Rays starting 4-8. It's a long season.Comment

They are, but it's April. Rangers fans of all people should be aware of teams that start off slow, that end up WS contenders. See the Cardinals.

Man....
Just when the offense is slowly, and I mean really slowly starting to come around the pitching has kinda went into the tank save for Ricky Romero. Hopefully the pitching staff can turn it around while the offense is starting to get its bearings.
I just hate that the Jays can NEVER have any kind of sustained success against the Rays but I think it's true what Buck and Pat said last night that the Jays players feel that the Rays are the team they have to slay if they want to leapfrog the big boys in the Yankees and BoSox. I guess there's another comparison I could make though it's not quite the same and that would be the late '70s when the KC Royals would face the Yankees in the ALCS and keep getting beat until finally in 1980 they were able to bypass them.
Speaking of the Royals that's the team the Jays face this weekend. I would be bitterly disappointed if they can't take this series.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
