I don't know what that has to do with anything cause Hamels said rookie. He didn't say or specify anything about hype or anything. Further more I don't see how that would make the situation different.

Of course they didn't get the same level of hype as Harper but Heyward was without a doubt being pushed by ESPN and everybody for that matter as not only the next big star but as the next big black star. They was doing topics on him on first take before he ever played a game and did even more after he hit the opening day homer. Not only did the hype push Heyward's name out there it got him voted as an all star starter as a rookie. I would say his hype was pretty huge. And not once did the fake Mr. Old school tough guy Hamels throw at him.

Was Heyward getting national attention and articles written about him as a 16-year-old? I don't recall any.

      I don't think they're too comparable.

Their hype isn't comparable and that's not what I'm saying at all. The point was Hamels came kicking like he hit the rookie on purpose because he is some old school type of guy. He didn't say anything about the hype or any of the such. He just said he hit the rookie. So my question was where was all this fake tough guy/old school stuff with Heyward or Stanton.

Nobody's hype can really compare to Harper's but it's not like Heyward was some unknown guy who was just working his way to the big leagues. He threw a nationally televised opening day pitch to Hank Aaron. The Braves built an entire marketing campain around the guy and he was being pushed by ESPN has they next big black superstar. He wasn't just some regular rookie ball player.

Now leading the AL in all triple crown categories as well. If Matt Kemp doesn't get any hits that could be leading the MLB in all of them by the end of the night.
