I also heard Pyrzynski possibly to the Cubs for Juan Cruz

Twins want to have Mauer...the Twins think that he may be ready for a mid season callup next year.

Boy that would be a mistake. Although Cruz has electric stuff, he had an era around 7 last year, and got demoted for a good part of the year.

I forgot about Mauer, but AJ seems like he's still a good young player. Why have they given up on him? Financial reasons?

Why resign a catcher when you have one of the best players in all of the minor leagues all but ready to take the starting catcher job in Minnesota? The Cubs, Padres, or Giants will get Pierzynski. I heard on some other board that it might be the Cubs sending Gonzalez, Farnsworth, and Cruz for Guzman and Pierzynski.

Looks like the trade is done... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1661751

Good trade for both sides. Figure Pierzynski will lead the NL in triples with that 420 foot right center gap.

Well, that officially ruins my day, AJ was one of my favorite players. Now with Nathan being here that will surely mean that either Eddie G or Hawk won't be back, or both.

I don't think Mauer is ready for the majors, hopefully they won't rush him if he's not. It will mean more time behind the plate for Matt Lecroy though, who *should* hit around 35 homers next year.

Yeah this [censored you naughty boy] sucks as A.J. was one of my favorite Twins. He's a career .301 hitter and hit 11HR with only 1 or 2 homers after the break. I think he has the potential to hit 20 homers a year. Furthermore, he does an outstanding job behind the plate, calls a good game, and was probably the Twins' best clutch hitter. It sucks but that's the reality baseball economics.
