    Re: 6/25 - 7/1 Game Discussion Thread

Good News: The Jays beat up the Red Sox and Colby Rasmus is the hottest CF in baseball right now.

Bad News: Looks like Henderson Alvarez may be injured though we don't know how serious it is. This is just getting to the point that I have to agree with Gregg Zaun. The Jays organization has to stop babying their pitching prospects and give them a lot of innings in the minors so that when they make the big club they can handle pitching 175-200 innings a year. These guys just don't get the kind of work they need to pitch over the long haul.

In a move that I apparently missed along the way, the Padres signed Jason Marquis? Do the Padres realize that he wasn't even good enough to pitch for the Twins?

It's Petco, and it's the NL.

        Anybody can pitch there.

And if they can't, they're a free agent or out of baseball (See Tim Redding, Jeff Suppan, etc.)

Oh yeah, they also signed Kip Wells not too long ago and he'll be the thirteenth starting pitcher for the Padres this season.

I'm sure this is in the transactions thread but the Jays pitching woes are so bad that they signed 49 yr old Jamie Moyer to a minor league contract and he could possibly pitch for the big club soon.

When was last time that a MLB team had 3 starters all get injured within a few day timespan? In Jays case, it's now 4 pitchers within past week or two.

Romero wasn't happy about comments he got on twitter though about people making jokes/bets about when Romero will get injured.

It sucks how right when you think the Jays got all the pieces they need to have a playoff push, something goes wrong, such as players at certain positions not doing great, or injuries.

Ryan Vogelsong is looking to further tighten the race with another outstanding performance at home. Lets go Giants!

Weird, I thought he went to Baltimore. Either I'm crazy or he got released from that contract in less than a month

He requested to be released after posting a 1.69 ERA over 3 minor league starts with Baltimore's Triple-A affiliate. I believe I read the Oriole's wanted him to make another start at AAA but he chose to opt out of his deal.

That would explain it. I think he could do something, he got screwed over 3 games with a terrible defense while on the Rockies. I think it was 8-10 errors, most for any pitcher in the rotation

Even if Cashner turns out to be a good number 2 or number 3 starter, eating up innings and posting an ERA+ of at least 110 or so and Anthony Rizzo falls on his face again and struggles, I still hate the fact we needlessly traded a young first-base prospect for a previously-injured pitching prospect we really did not need, even with hindsight and all these injuries.

Yadi (and Ruiz) are still second and third in All-Star voting? Why Posey?

Stanton with a 454 ft bomb, now if only the team didn't suck.

Posey has great stats as well, not like he's slouching. All star in MLB is more of a popularity contest then Pro Bowl anyways
