Re: Mike Trout or Bryce Harper

Granted they both maintain high levels of success and stay healthy, this question will be asked many times over the next 15-20 years. I have a pretty hard time deciding myself. Trout is more talented in terms of hitting for an average, Overall fielding skills and has the advantage on the base paths. Harper Is the better power hitter, Has a cannon arm and is doing a damn good job in Center considering not to long ago he was catching. Lets also not forget that he is no slouch on the base paths either (10 Steals caught 3 times). This is also Harper's first year in the league as opposed to Trout who had various stints in the majors last season. Theirs also something about Bryce Harper that just does it for me. He has this hunger a burning desire to never give up and continue trying no matter the odds. He'll run through brick walls if he has too. You set the bar higher and higher and he will continue to reach and surpass it. That arrogance, the over aggressive tendancies remind me very much of a young Ken Griffey and that's Why I like Harper so much, its like he comes from the old days of baseball where players literally earned every cent you paid them. I gotta take Harper.

Trout is the better average hitter, base runner, fielder(Trout steals HRs, Harper can barely track fly balls it seems), Harper may have the better raw power grade but Trout has used his power more in games so far.

This would be more of a conversation if were talking Harper, Stanton, or Heyward(For the record i'd take Stanton/Heyward over Harper as well, but they've shown more in the MLB tho)
Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, Lightning

Bryce Harper, better stats than Trout at his age

True, but I don't see Harper progressing enough next year to get to Trout's level as a 20 year old

Better stats? Mike trout is better then Bryce Harper in nearly every statistical category.

Edit: Never mind, didn't see you said at his age. But Trout only played 40 games as a 19 year old so I feel like you cant compare his season with Harper's season.

No doubt about it... Mike Trout

He has a very, very good chance of being AL MVP this year and he already has ROY in the bag... And is quickly becoming one of the best players in baseball... Absolute superstar!
