Re: 7/30 - 8/5 Game Discussion Thread
I don't like attributing feelings of dislike to "jealousy". I don't like when anybody gives an assessment on why I feel the way I do about people or things.
That, however, is one of the most ridiculous things to point out. I mean, c'mon.
Even I don't talk about how so many losers come out to so many DUMB songs.
Though I do like a guy like Josh Reddick more when he comes out to wrestling music, lol.Comment

Though the home run barely scraped over the fence (and Miguel crushed way out of Fenway one pitch before), Prince maybe just hit the most impressive home run of 2012.

Re: 7/30 - 8/5 Game Discussion Thread
Calling out to jealousy as an explanation is an extreme oversimplification and one must consider the source.
I was a huge Cincinnati Big Red Machine fan when I was a little kid and scraped for any and all news and views for them since I didn't live in the Cincinnati area. But I couldn't stand Pete Rose being on my favorite team. He was arrogant and you could see the narcissism drip off of him. What he did in the all-star game was inexcusable.
But I wasn't jealous of him.Comment

Finally the Tigers offense decides to come alive on this road trip. Cabby with an absolute bomb out of the stadium and Prince follows up with his own home run. I don't care what anybody says, Cabby is the best pure hitter in the league (note I said hitter not player). Amazing consistency year in and year out. Shame the offense waited until the last game of the road trip to get out of the funk they were in.Last edited by mgoblue678; 08-01-2012, 07:58 PM.My Teams

In the case of Harper, when coming from a Phillies fan, it is a completely different animal.
15.5 games back. Just sayin'.Comment

I'm not concerned with being 15.5 games back right now. All contending teams have seasons that don't go as planned. Phils are going to be right back in the thick of things next year no matter what anyone says.Comment

Re: 7/30 - 8/5 Game Discussion Thread
Fair enough.... but I wasn't jealous (which really is more so a chick thing than a guy thing) of really ANYONE on any other team that I disliked.
Jealousy infers that you wish you had that ability for yourself and can probably never attain it. Concomitantly, one is probably not secure with his/her own.
Dislike typically involves certain qualities/features/attributes in a given person that do not coincide with your conceptions and values of how to carry yourself in a given situation. Specifically, I dislike an air of cockiness and arrogance, which Harper had clearly shown at various junctures already. My thread regarding his now trademarking ....yes, trademarking..... a phrase that first of all has nothing to do with the spirit and definition of trademarking, and, in addition, could easily be something he heard from a HS teammate only adds, in my perception, to his behavioral displays of arrogance.
In regards to the number of games back...... I can understand the large number of factors contributing to this reality. But your continual pointing it out as some type of explanation behind Phillies' fans commentary is highly juvenile and simplistic. Get a new line.Comment

Nate Schierholtz is having a solid first night as a Phillie. Gives the Phillies the lead with a solo homer earlier, and has made some nice defensive plays in the field.Comment

There's no better way to finish of a night of jealousy posting than with a fine piece of blind homerism.Comment

Dan Uggla sucks and this is EXACTLY what I was worried about when we traded for and extended him.
If the guy's not hitting homers, he's worthless.
Oh, as for the Bryce Harper Pissing Contest that happens every single week.....stop it. Just...stop.Comment

Speaking of homerism..... listening to the Nats broadcasters makes my ears bleed. I'm clearly not jealous of them. I just hope the organization isn't losing money by paying them too much. I'm thinking $25/game and $3.00 in coupon vouchers for the vending machines outta do 'er.Comment
