The White Sox had 6 new fielders in the 6th inning when they came out for their turn in the field.

That was played terribly, but either way that was going to be a double play, because the runners stopped. They would have been out at second and home either way.

That's incorrect. This is from MLB.com and is a bit misstated as it was the 1B ump who misread it. Why he is making a call at all in a ball hit to CF on a line drive, I have no idea:

"Both teams were scoreless through three, before the Phillies scraped their lone run across in the fourth, led off by a one-out double from Chase Utley.

Ryan Howard was hit by a Latos pitch and John Mayberry Jr. drew a walk on a full count to load the bases. Domonic Brown watched four straight balls go by as Latos walked in the first run of the game.

The one-out threat was thwarted by a missed call on the next at-bat that ended in a double play. Nate Schierholtz lined a ball to shallow center in front of a charging Drew Stubbs.

Stubbs fielded the ball right as it was bouncing on a bang-bang play, but came up firing to second. The Phillies baserunners froze, not knowing if the ball bounced or was caught.

Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips touched second and threw to catcher Ryan Hanigan, who also touched home plate. If Stubbs had not caught the ball, the play at home would not have been a forceout, since Phillips previously touched second.

But the umpires ruled that Stubbs caught the ball in the air and doubled off Mayberry at second to end the inning. Upon further slow motion replay, the ball clearly took a small bounce before Stubbs fielded it.

The Phillies walked away with just one run in the frame, and the miscue would prove to be costly."

Regardless, lack of run support did not help.

Congrats to Rollins on his 2,000.... a double at that. Great accomplishment.

The Blue Jays are so pathetic. It's clear that the lights are on but no one's home. What a way to end the year.

In a way I wouldn't be too bent out of shape if Farrell goes to Boston.

Who else is hoping the O's can win the East and the Rays finish ahead of the Yankees?

                That would be awesome.

With 1 more HR Stanton will be tied for 8th with Griffey for most HRs through their age 22 season.

I'd love to see the consternation in NY if that were to happen. Heads would definitely roll.

Phillies are taking it to Mike Leake and the Reds this afternoon. Erik Kratz has a 3-run home run and Chase Utley has a 2-run home run. 6-0 Phillies in the 3rd.

So this Jay Bruce guy. Didn't I hear a Reds fan or two actually complain about him not too long ago? He's kind of hot right now.

Should be a great atmosphere. I wonder what the split of the crowd will be.

So this Strasburg shutdown...is it just the regular season or are they entirely crazy and it's the playoffs too?
