Re: Luis Castillo re-signs with Marlins

From rumors here in South Florida...The Marlins are close to signing Chad Fox. He will most likely be our closer since we are likely to lose both Urbina and Looper. Pudge may end up signing back with us because FA was depressing for him last year, so he is really trying to make a deal with us. BTW, I hear Encarnacion is gone as well...and another reason we tarded Lee was to be able to keep AJ Burnett. Burnett and Beckett will be better this year (when Burnett returns) than Prior and Wood were last year.

Better than Prior and Wood? Hate to be a stickler, but don't quit your Day job. They are good pitchers, but not quite that calibur. It's sad if Encarnacion goes, he is a big piece of the puzzle that nobody bothered to see in that Marlins team. He's like Johnny Damon with pop. As for pudge re-signing, I'd rather they went for a cheaper catcher (sorry pudge) because last year should help Pudge's standings for getting a job somewhere else. Fox is a big pickup, and it would seem that in a way they are keeping their promise. However, I'd much rather they keep Encarnacion than Pudge, eh?

I wonder who they'll try to get to replace Pudge who probably won't re-sign.

They are going to re-sign Pudge, if for nothing else because there is no market for him,
                        where is going to go?
the Cubs don't want him, the Orioles will sign Javy Lopez, the A's and Royals will look for cheaper Catchers,
he is not going to get 5yrs $50mil. from anyone, Florida has reportedly offered him 2yrs $20mil.,
expect to see Pudge back in Florida.
