Tigers wrap up the AL Central. Well, it didn't go according to plan, and was downright frustrating for much of the season, but at least there in the dance. I am not confident about their chances, due to the flaws they have, but getting to the dance at least gives you a chance particurlry with a top three of Verlander, Scherzer and Fister.

Sanchez has pitched great recently, so I'm pretty happy with the rotation. I'm more worried about the bullpen; it has not performed like last year.

Good pitching + timely hitting = WS.

And with that, the Rays are eliminated from postseason contention.

However, if I would have told you after the 2007 season that they would have five winning seasons in a row including three playoff appearances, two AL East division titles and one AL pennant you would have thrown me in an asylum.

It's been a hell of a run. A run for the ages, in fact, for such a small market team in a division like that.

Not sure how to feel about this...could go one of two ways, either they come out the next two days pissed off and trying to sweep or being eliminated takes the wind out of their sails. I'm hoping for the latter, because I don't think Boston will be giving us much help.

Well, the Rays still plan to send Shields out there tomorrow and Hellboy out there on Wednesday so the O's have their work cut out for them regardless of what the bats do.

Either way, I'm backing Oakland in the AL and Cincy in the NL this postseason.

EDIT- And if you don't think Boston is going to give it their all to beat NY these last two games then you're nuts!

I'm not saying they won't give it their all, but their lineup is really, really bad. Their best hope is tomorrow with Lester going.

An article about Cleveland's search for a manager:

The Indians are expected to interview Sandy Alomar on Thursday and Terry Francona on Friday in their search for a manager to replace Manny Acta.

                          The highlight:

One more candidate: Former Tribe slugger Albert Belle said he threw his hat into the ring with an email to President Mark Shapiro asking for a managerial interview.

"I'm just like Robin Ventura and Mike Matheny were last year," said Belle with a laugh, referring to the White Sox and Cardinals bosses. "I'm sitting on my couch waiting for my phone to ring."

What I wouldn't give for a gif of Belle blowing up poor Fernando Vina.

Isn't Belle hard up for money these days or am I remembering things wrong? Either way as I said before i'm pulling for Sandy Alomar.
