    Re: TWINS

I'd love to see the Braves take Mientkiewicz and Jones off our hands, but i think they're too smart for that. Both players are average, to below-average.

The Twins were dominated by the Sox,and their offense is struggling. I think they need to make a move, but will they? And what can they get for a guy like Jones? Who's looking for an outfielder that has 25 HR potential and strikes out a lot?

The Twins can tap their farm system for help, but it's tough to depend on young guys in a pennant race.

I'm not counting them out, but the Sox are looking strong, and the Twins weak. I wouldn't want to fall more than 4 games back, because i don't see the Sox folding again this year.

      Re: TWINS

The Sox put the hurt on the Twins this weekend. They're looking strong, there's no doubt about it.

Counting the Twins out right now would be a mistake, however. They were far worse off last year at the All-Star break and came back to control the division in the 2nd half. Will it happen again? Maybe, but they'll need some help via trade or minor league promotion. The Sox still have questions. Rookie manager, rookie closer and weak defense are not small pieces of the puzzle. They have a deep rotation and big bats, though. That might be enough.

I'm not giving up hope, and Sox fans shouldn't get too excited about a sweep in early July. There's a lot of ball left to be played.

            Re: TWINS

Trading Jones wouldn't be a bad idea after Stewart comes back from his injury. Cause then the outfield would look like this: Stewart----Hunter----Ford

Plus we have the other 2 outfielders. I say trade Jones for what ever you can get. The Twins will need to make a trade like they did last year.

How many years has he been in MLB? Just because he's old doesn't mean he's not a rookie in the sense that he's not been in MLB very long. He's just as unfamilliar with the players and untested in this league as any 23 year old. He has no track record of success here.

You have a point tbuck. But Kaz Sasaki did fine as a rookie. And Ichiro did very very well. These guys especially Shingo have been playing baseball for a long time. So they're not going to get rattled in tough games.
