    Goodbye Pudge...

This shows everything that is wrong with baseball. Pudge got greedy and took money over the team.(because $15 million for 2 years just isnt enough these days). Huge step backwards for the Marlins but theyll get over it.

    Go fish!

How you're saying this sounds like he signed with someone else. Can you verify that for me please.

The Fish couldn't offer him arbitration because of his contract and since they couldn't reach a deal, Pudge will be somewhere else next year.

The only way the Marlins get Pudge back is if he goes unsigned until May 1st, then signs with them on or after that date.

                      Re: Goodbye Pudge...

It's funny that everyone acts like this is such a big deal, and so unexpected. To think back of the "who else could possibly want him?!" thread....oh boy...good times.

Yeah, lets ask that, whoelse could possibly want Pudge, a guy who carried his team to the World Series against some of the toughest oposition in recent years, to later help win the Series against a team that is known for being "the best". Who else? Pudge is a HUGE reason why they got there, and to say there's no market for him now because of his "injury" issues, is absolutely 100% grade A LUDICROUS!!

There were alot of questions in recent years, before he signed on the the Marlins and was still with Texas, as to whether this injury plagued power hitting catcher could possibly be a World Series calibur player, and I can honestly tell you that nobody had high hopes for the guy. He was the single biggest factor (aside from the stupid plays made by cruz jr.) to why they beat the Giants, and if that wasn't enough proof, they went on to beat the best Cubs team in god knows how long to go to the Series against the Yanks....and beat them not only in under 7 games, but with a final game of a Shutout. Even I have to admit that the Fish's run this past season was very exciting. Pudge proved that he can help considerably in taking a team to the World Series, and that has increased his market value all the much more.

He's not Stupid, and with Arod for a friend, you don't exactly expect him to take less when he knows he can get more. Not that Arod would even feasibly have anything to do with this. The point is, he appreciated the ride the Marlins gave him, even more so because it pushed his value up, and when your value goes up you have a chance at landing yourself on a big team, and being on a big team and going to the Series is what it's all about. The value of all Marlins players went up considerably, which means of course that this low market team couldn't possibly keep everyone, and that means that there's even less of a chance that they will make it to the World Series twice in a row,or even plausibly win it again. Now, if you were Pudge would you resign for less, when you knew:

                      1. You could get alot more somewhere else.

                      2. "somewhere else" might be a big name team.

                      3. The chances that the Fish will get close to the WS again soon are slim, and you'd have a better chance somewhere else and for more money.

In conclusion, I know all the Marlin's fans will miss Pudge, deeply, irrevocably, but you knew it was going to happen anyways. Stop being such babies about it. If they can afford to give a 2 year 15 mil deal to pudge, they can afford to get a catcher of a little bit less worth and maybe some help in the pen/ect. This isn't as bad a thing as everyone is making it out to be, and IMO it's actually good for the team, because you now have all that "Pudge Money" to spend on other things you need. Go for the Gold, but don't let the Golden Player get in your way, eh?

Just sign Javy. He'll take 3 years/24 million. The Braves certainly don't have any money to sign anyone. Crud, they can't even offer Maddux or Sheffield arbitration. Do I sound bitter? It might be because I am. Stupid AOL.
