I don't care what numbers you show me...Jeter is not worth $20 mil a year, that's laughable.

.317/17/80 = $20 mil? Yeah right. "Jeter homers" are the funniest.

Maybe the Guzman comparisons were off-base, but Jeter is not as spectacular as some of you make him out to be. Certainly not spectacular to the tune of $20 mil a year.

As big a fan as I am of Jeter he isnt worth that much. Hes got a lot of the intangibles people always talk about in leadership and presence in the locker room, his defence is top notch and he hosts SNL with the best of them but offensivly speaking anyhow he isnt a 20 milliom dollar man.

No one is worth 20 million a year, not even ARod. One thing you need to understand about Jeter though is, in comparison to ARod, Nomar, Tejada, etc is that he bats 2nd while all those other bat in RBI spots. Jeter's job a lot of times is to move the runner up, etc. If he batted in an RBI spot, his numbers would be a lot better than they are. You can't go by a player's stats alone to judge his worth and what he means to a team.

I know... maybe my Cristian Guzman comparison was a little off.. (I had assumed Cristian was putting up better numbers than he was) but I DO take into account that Derek bats in the 2 hole. BUT with the Yankees' lineup, the number 7-8-9 hitters are almost every bit as good as the 3-4-5 hitters on other clubs, and in some cases they are BETTER! I think no matter WHERE you bat in the Yankee lineup kinda nullifies the "but he bats this spot" debate. Which is a stem-off of why I support Matsui NOT winning ROY.
