Re: 2012-13 Hot Stove League Thread

His bad season with Dodgers really wasn't his fault either. Look at difference in 04 and 05 teams.

    04:
    C-Lo Duca
    1B-Green
    2B-Cora
    SS-Izturis
    3B-Beltre
LF-Werth(2nd lowest batting average of all their starting lineup at .262)
    CF-Bradley
    RF-J.Encarnacion

    SP:
    Weaver
    Perez
    Ishii
    Lima
    Nomo

    RP:
    Gagne
    Sanchez
    Mota
    Dreifort
    Martin
    05:
    C-Phillips
    1B-Choi
    2B-Kent
    SS-Izturis
    3B-Edwards
    LF-Ledee
    CF-Bradley
    RF-Drew

    SP:
    Weaver
    Lowe
    Penny
    Houlton
    Perez

    RP:
    Brazoban
    Sanchez
    Carrara
    Schmoli
    Wunsch
It was like a completely diff team in 04 and 05. He was fired in 05 cause of 1 bad season(71-91) despite the past 4 season having 85+ wins.

The dodgers did bounce back the season after he was fired, but mostly cause they had guys like Martin,Ethier,Nomar,Billingsley,Broxton among others added to the team.

So Tracy really seems like he'd be a great guy to have as coach, as long as management doesn't ruin the team, and based on the Jays 2013 team, looks like he'll be doing great job with them.

I was a big Jim Tracy fan. He's really nice to the media, will answer all questions. He will do anything that puts his team in position to win. The Rockies roster with all of their injuries couldn't really show that he was a solid manager. You guys will love him if you get Tracy.

So basically, it was one of those "can't blame him for leaving" type of situations, which I guess could be great if he's Jays manager, to know that the bad seasons in Colorado weren't really his fault.
This is exactly right. Management wanted to have more power over what he was doing. I'm not exactly sure what they are wanting to do, but giving the Rockies management more power would drive any manager out of town.
Jim Tracy definitely did the right thing by taking the high road and leaving on his own. The Rockies had their worst season in history but Jim Tracy came out looking like the good guy.

EDIT: One more thing... Players really respect Jim Tracy. The players never quit playing hard and I think he could be a good guy to bring into a situation like Toronto's.

Makes me slightly happier to hear, but...

Did AA give any hint about the JJ trade? No. Did he give any hint about the Melky signing? No-ish. We call him the Silent Assassin for a reason, I doubt he goes Tracy or Wriggleman.

I hope he's a silent assassin, or he'll end up like this guy:

Marlins just signed Juan Pierre. See, they're just like the A's/O's from last year.

Is Manny Ramirez officially retired? If not, I predict that this will be the 5th straight off season he's linked to Toronto.

lol,if that happens, how long until the "Toronto is the MLBs rehab city" jokes start cause of Manny and Melky being there.

Vlad was signed, and it didn't work out, so he asked to be released. I don't see Manny or Jays wanting this deal to happen.

Of all the potential free agents, who could be the best DH options out there? Napoli,LaRoche are the best ones I see. Both signing for under 10M for sure.

I know it's about half a year from now...but something I noticed on the schedule...Jays play in Chicago in mid June. Buehrle hasn't faced the White Sox in his career, so I'm sure he'll get a fairly big reaction when returning in June, considering he did spend 12 years there(and win a WS with them)

So here's a nice little debut. Manny Ramirez — you remember him, right? — made his debut for the Las Aguilas Eagles of the Dominican League on Wednesday night, and rocketed the very first pitch he saw into the cheap … Continue reading →

lol, Jays lineup can have as many as 4 switch hitters on it in a single game.

If you include bench guys being inserted into the lineup in any given game, Jays could have 9 righties batting in their lineup, or 8 lefties(cause all their catchers are right handed).

lol, if a starting pitcher is TERRIBLE against righties or lefties, Jays might just go all out and have the 8-9 righties or lefties all face that guy.
