      Vlad better than Shef?

Who would think of such a thing?

But ya, I really hope Vlad doesn't end up a Yankee.

The Yanks are not getting Vlad period. They have no where to put him and they Signed Shef.

I think Vlad would be a better fit in BAL.

Re: Yanks giving up on Shef for Vlad.

Well, aside from the Yankees getting Vasquez this offseason, I like that they are doing. Signing all of the good, yet very old players to fill in with Sheffield and Brown, and trading away all of their future prospects (Johnson and possibly Weaver could have been). Granted, if Brown can stay healthy he is one of the best pitchers in the league, but that is very unlikely. Sheffield IS good, but he is certainly getting old as well. It still scares me however thinking of Sheffield hitting in Yankee Stadium.

However, the team just doesn't seem as good as before. I feel losing Pettite will be an ENORMOUS blow for the Yanks, as that guy could flat out get it done in any situation. As a huge Sox fan, he was the only Yankee pitcher that I was actually scared of facing. That, and losing Nick Johnson, who I wasn't fond of, but had a LOT of potential, will be a huge loss, as Giambi hasn't really been himself with the Yankees, especially at 1st base.

This year just seems like the year for my Sox to finally do it. Our rotation is extremely good now with the addition of Schilling, and the bullpen is now anchored by Foulke, who is damn near unhittable at times. Now, all we need to do is dump that chump Manny, and hopefully pick up A-Rod (which doesn't seem likely now), and I think we have a serious shot at finally finishing off the curse.

The Sheffield deal iS done, he agreed to a 3yr 39 million dollar contract, so the Yankees will not be in the Vladmir Guerrero hunt.
