but regardless, they are in trouble if they think they can continually keep running out these no name, and or yesterdays heroes. aj pierzynski is a good move. but this team needs a lot more than that. when barry retires or goes to the a.l. to dh, the giants will be left crying in their beer talking about raisng ticket prices and what not when the fans stop rolling in. if you have no marquee players, it doesnt matter how nice the view is, and it doesnt matter how nice mccovey cove looks at 2:00 in the afternoon, if you keep trying to make moves on a year to year basis, with no sort of foresight into the future, your screwed. and this past week Pedro mentioned the Giants as one of the teams he would be interested in playing for. but you already know how thats going to end. with pedro playing elsewhere. as a giants fan I am sour on this team. a lot was blamed on dusty and he deserved some, but as i said originally, these rent a plyer deadline deals suck and they give you a false sense of security when sabean keeps doing it. will they make more deals, of course, but the deal they should have made was guerrero. it makes so much sense but it wont make any "cents" to the front office because that means they have to dig into their own pockets.

Giants are trying to slash payroll, plain and simple.

They did get AJ Pierzynski, a great young catcher. But that, coupled with the Ponson trade last year has really somewhat depleted their minor league system of great pitching talent. I wonder what the Giants will look like in another 1-3 years. Plus they have that whole issue about paying back the city for the ballpark or something along those lines.

The NL West will be a very weak division this year. I think anybody can take it, but whoever does will get swept in the first round of the playoffs. There is no real truly dominant team in this division anymore.
