    Re: LOL at Zimmer

Are we still doing Asshat awards? If so, this guy most definately deserves it.

Honestly now, if you were in one line of business for pretty much your entire life, wouldn't you break down crying if your career ended because of a jackass boss, at least going by what Zimmer said about Steinbrenner? The guy loves the game of baseball. It's the only job he's known. It's his passion. Have some more respect for the guy.

      He's had a great run.

Its OK to poke fun at a guy as lucky as him to lived a dream.

It seemed to me that Zimmer sat on the bench next to Torre and did didly squat.

Personally, I think Zimmer sells himself with the image of the cute roly-poly gruff old-timer. I mean, how many other bench coaches do you guys know about? I'm sure there are a lot of people who've been in the game since the 1950s who you've never heard of. I for one don't think he deserves the attentions he's gotten. He wasn't a great players and wasn't that great a manager. I won't go as far a starting a negative thread about him, but this is my opinion.

Zimmer doesn't sell himself as anything you knucklehead, it's the networks that do that. But wait, you may have a point. I do remeber all those Nike and Pepsi adds on during the World Series featuring the Zimm. And if I do recall, there was an awful lot made of Pokey Reese when he was reaching the end of his time in baseball, and that guy could hardly even walk in his last few years around the game.

I think you mean Pee Wee Reese. Pokey is still playing and I don't think he's 30 yet.

But yeah, back of Zim guys. Let's face it, you don't stay in baseball long if you're not a good guy that everyone likes. Why do you think the jerks do nothing with the game after they retire.
