    Jays in Aurillia sweepstakes

According to Jeff Blair of the Globe and Mail the Blue Jays are seriously mulling the possibility of pursuing Rich Aurillia. They're even going so far that they may clear some salary just to get him. This would be a great move for the Jays as he can SS for Woodward if/when he gets injured or starts swinging a cold bat.

In other news the Jays tried to trade 2B Orlando Hudson (NO!) to the M's for reliever Rafael Soriano. (interesting) but the M's declined the offer.

    I wouldn't trade O-dogg for ANYONE!

Don't think Aurillia will come to t-dot, but if anyone can do it...it's Richardi!

Conversely, I wouldn't trade Rafael Soriano for ANYONE. He may be young and many people don't know much about him, but he was one of the premier setup men last year, and he is downright AWESOME! He has an incredibly deadly slider. Hudson isn't good enough for Soriano. Hudson is good, of course, but Rafael Soriano can do it all. Apparently the M's are breaking him in to be a Starter, but so far what I've seen from his Relieving, he is VERY good in the pen. Hudson might make for a good shortstop or something, but nothing can replace the stability Soriano keeps in the pen. He's in my list of top fav. young pitchers, up there with Prior and the like. You could say I'm over-estimating him or making him out to be better than he really is, but when this kid first came up I thought he'd be a fluke. I thought he'd do okay and then flail. Since then he's been AMAZINGLY consistant, to the point that I'm pretty certain that at some point in his career, he will be an All-Star, if not more than once. Orlando Hudson is good, but I doubt he's THAT good, and he'd be a temporary solution for the M's. Why give up a guy that you know is going to be awesome in the future for a temporary solution?

i hope the trade happens..Woodward is by far the worst defensive shortstop in the majors and aurillia would be a nice stop gap until the young infielders get called up.

Hudson for Soriano would be a horrible deal. Soriano has the chance to be the best reliever in the game. He resembles a young Mariano Rivera. Orlando Hudson is like Jimmy Rollins except he can't steal very many bases.

I agree. Are we still in the Aurillia sweepstakes too?
