Re: Shawn Chacon to be made Rockies Closer

Why are they even thinking of converting him to a Closer? He is a great starting pitcher. There is still some free agent closers out there who are better then Jimenez. Mike DeJean would be a cheap choice. Probabily could sign him under $1.5 Million. There's also still guys like Mesa, Wendell, Alfonseca, Benitez, Urbina, and Franco. All of these guys might not be the best closers or the cheapest but they would be better than Jimenez. I think Chacon being converted is a horrible idea. He is far more valuable as a starting pitcher. But lets see how the change turns out.

You can scratch Franco, he resigned with the Mets.

Would've been better if they did try to get a closer instead of converting one.
