As a diehard Braves fan, I was sad to see him go....but I've semi-liked the BoSox for a few years now. Boston would really be doing a great thing here and Maddux would be too....be a great couple years to end his career with....and possibly another ring???

Maddux would be hard pressed to put up great numbers in AL ballparks as well since they are more hitter friendly.

You seem to forget he won a Cy Young pitching in Wrigley Field.

Sure, he throws the ball 80 mph. But his fastball moves like everybody else's curveball, and he really knows how to pitch. The AL hasn't seen him. They don't know his tricks. He'd definitely have better numbers in the AL next year than he would in the NL.

You also forget that was 12 YEARS AGO! Tho I do agree that he will get by on craftiness the first time through the league. It's when he faces a team for the 2nd or 3rd time that he's going to run into trouble.

But... he NEVER threw very hard.

The thing is, hitters in the NL just got used to the way his ball moves and the pitches he uses in a certain situation over a decade.

The AL isn't going to figure it out after one game.
