    agreed - you could be 17-10 w/ a 5 ERA or 2-20 w/ a 3 ERA..

The Reds need pitching, period. Lidle could be a good signing for them if he's healthy,
they need Jimmy Haynes and Paul Wilson to improve also, Danny Graves seems set to get his Closers job back, which opens a spot in the rotation, potentially for Chris Reitsma.
they would still like to sign a lefty, and i've heard Glendon Rusch's name tossed around,
i still can't see why they did not try to keep Ryan Dempster.

A Bad 2003 season? Did you even watch him the first 3 months? If I'm not mistaken he lead the entire major league in wins at one point, with at least 2 or 3 more than the runnerup. It was only then that he took a complete turn south and never even got back to anywhere close to where he was at the start. He looked good, REAL good, for the first month or two. It's after that you have to watch out for.

When he lead the league in Wins, Sports Illustrated compared him to Mike Maroth. They had almost identical ERA and WHIP, but Lidle was like 8-2 and Maroth was like 2-8. Wins are overrated man.

Yes he had a high ERA during the time he was winning and the reason why he took such a sudden U-turn was because he had an injury but didn't tell the team til it was absolutely apparent that something was wrong with him. That shows very little class IMO. It's another reason why i'm glad he's not wearin a Blue Jay uniform in '04.

He had 2 good years in Oakland and then slumped in Toronto. I think he can bounce back and be a solid pitcher.
