Re: 2013 Spring Training Discussion Thread

Absolutely awesome to have a baseball game on this morning...Nats/Mets on SNY. Seeing the green grass, blue sky, and warm weather was refreshing, especially since we haven't been above 45 or so since October and can count on one hand the number of sunny days. So glad baseball is here.

Jays beat Tigers 10-3! A grand slam and a 3 run home run for the Jays!

Tigers had Cabrera,Fielder and basically everyone else from their MLB roster starting this game. Jays went this entire game without Bautista,EE,Reyes,Melky among others and still managed to hit like crazy

Rays beat the Red Sux in what I hope will be a common occurrence this season.

Was watching the Mets game earlier and I have to say, I'm impressed with Collin Cowgill. The dude just seems to flat out hustle. A Nieuwenhuis/Cowgill CF platoon will have to offer more production then Andres Torres provided all of last year.

Let's not get goofy over Spring Training. Remember last year? It's nice to see them get the W though. The 2 runs Morrow gave up today he probably wouldn't have if this was a regular season game as the pitch Fielder smashed wouldn't have been thrown. All in all not a bad game for the Jays.

I was sad to see Cowgill go. He plays the game the way I like to see it played, gritty and hard. I hope he's successful in NY.

Thank you. Lol. I mean the Marlins put up 8 runs today, they are on their way to a great year! It's easy to get caught up in Spring Training results, but they are completely pointless. That's why such poor players can have good games/springs, they see a lot of fastballs. Everybody can hit a fastball.

Most pitchers don't even throw offspeed pitches in their first few outings. Guys are just trying to locate their fastball and work their arms back into shape.

He led the grapefruit league in homers last spring, and hit .190 when he went up North.

Anyways I thought Fielder looked a little slimmer. He really crushed that ball. And Victor Martinez has looked very comfortable so far, that's a great sign. Doesn't look like a player who hasn't played in 14 months

Yeah, I have to admit I was one of the people with extremely high hopes last year for the Blue Jays after their great spring training. This year i'm taking a more cautious approach to things.

Granderson hit by a pitch around his right wrist/forearm and is leaving the game. Probably more precautionary than anything, but it's scary to think it could be more going into the season (or for his entire Spring Training, for that matter).

Yeah I saw that too, didn't look pretty.

Quite a shame, they are saying he will possibly be out 10 weeks now. Bad breaks (no pun intended) abound for the Yanks.
